The people I can think of off the top are the Marsalis’ Wynton, Bradford, and Ellis Sr. I went to school with their brother Ellis he’s the only son that didn’t go into music.

I knew Carlton Ridenhour before he became one of greatest rappers ever, Chuck D. We were art majors at Adelphi University - we first met at freshman orientation and became good friends. Turns out we didn't live far from each other - I lived in Uniondale, and Chuck lived in neighboring Roosevelt(also home to Dr. J, Howard Stern and Eddie Murphy).

Chuck was tearing up the mic before he became famous. He and his DJ group Spectrum used to throw some serious parties on campus. I lost track of him after graduation(in 1982) until Public Enemy hit the airwaves. Haven't seen him in a long time, but I think he still lives on Long Island - don't know what town, though.

remember the "Super Spectrum Mix hour" on wbau? shit where in Uniondale... cuz i used to hang out with the Choice 5 mc's.. woody n them cats back n the day.. and for the record kidz.. Terminator train wreck i mean X was not thier original Dj, dj K-Jee was the original Dj for spectrum City K-jee Chuck D, Flavor,Butch Cassidy,Hank Shockley ( who's K-jee's brother)

Are you kidding me, man? I used to LIVE for that show! Chuck even gave me a shout-out one time. That's when radio was radio!

My family moved to "Chill-City" Uniondale(from the South Bronx) in 1974. I grew up on Orbit Lane, not far from the Nassau Road/Park Avenue intersection.

I wasn't much of a partyman back in the day, but I'm sure my brother was at your parties. In fact, most of his crew lived on Davis. That's where he hung out all the time.

Well, they're all sorta famous, but Jennifer Aniston and Courtney Cox are the only real celebs. The others really haven't had much in the way of careers after that show.

Oh wait...that isn't what you meant by "friends" who have become famous?

lol I think you've forgotten about a little program that changed television called "Joey!"

Is that a show about kangaroos? confuse

My brother-in-law went to school w/ Madonna.

She was a couple of years older than him. He was friends with her younger brother.

Her picture is in his high school year book.

Isel

I have a friend who became famous in the dance world. He was on the National Endowment for the Arts selection committee.

I have to say, that guy was always going to be a creative force. He was just focused from a very young age. It's like everything was always so clear to him.
Honestly, I don't think I've ever met anyone quite like him as far as focus, talent. Even my mom--who could be quite critical at times--just thought this guy was extremely gifted. It's as if he knew... There was never a doubt in his mind that he would be successful. I don't think he looks at himself as famous though. But for sure, he's confident.. but he's always been that way.

i have a couple of semi-famous-ish musician friends from my new york daze, though i barely keep in touch with them anymore. one of them i hung out with the last time he was in chicago a couple of summers ago, and we had a great day roaming around and chatting. it feels weird, though - talking about stupid stuff from the past and some weirdo comes out of nowhere and starts famming out on my friend. i was all, 'does this make me his posse?' confuse
