Winter fashion for women Mon needs to get some winter clothes for our trip to the UK, and I was wondering if you had any suggestions about what you'd recommend, what's in etc.
She plans to buy some black leather boots, high shoes (she like open toe, but is that impractical in winter in the UK?) jumpers, a coat or jacket, a few pairs of jeans, a pair of trousers, maybe a scarf or two, gloves, and importantly some of the stuff (such as relatively lightweight jumpers) need to be wearable here in Thailand during 'cold' season so as to get more use out of them. So please, if you have any fashion suggestions for the items above, let us see 'em so we can go shopping with a few clear ideas in mind of what to look for. Thanks.

How about pics? I know I'm asking for quite a bit of effort, but this thread is actually about something! Am I like 'the boy who cried "this thread is actually about something"'?

I'd not get open-toed shoes for winter period. What about some high-heeled boots? She could get some cute skirts to go with them that way. This one's for you.

Our budget is about 150 pounds. But then, this is Thailand.

Yep, she's definitely getting high heeled boots, but she can't wear those all the time. She already has a pair of those white adidas sneakers that I think she'll take, but she needs another pair of shoes - maybe something for walking as I imagine we'll walk up the hill at some point. Forgot about skirts. Thanks for reminding me. She already has a kinda wooly maroon/brown skirt that she can take, but we need to get her maybe a grey or black one in a similar style. So, where are the pics? I need visuals here to get some ideas.

Yeah, who knew you couldn't buy all this stuff at the baggage claim in Heathrow airport. I did buy her a pair of gloves (well, socks), but I think she needs some shoes to replace her flip-flops.

I try. Man, I'm too excited. Now we have the tickets we can relax a bit. I can actually say that I know Friday night we'll be up at the Apple Tree pub and I'll be drinking a Guinness Extra Cold sitting on a comfy sofa. Roll on Thursday morning - Mon's first time on a plane too!

What are "jumpers"?
? ? ? | |

Ok, let me narrow it down, in the hope of getting one person to post just one picture. Jeans, boots and stuff we're ok with, but we need some ideas for coats and skirts. Little help?

Ok, I actually thought they might be pants.
So I recommend she get a wool pea coat or belted coat. Here are some good examples. http://www.neimanmarcus.c...001&cmCat= A nice skirt with dark tights and a pair of boots are nice. http://www.neimanmarcus.c...111&cmCat= Maybe a turtleneck sweater. This one is nice. http://www.neimanmarcus.c...at12110754 I could probably go on and on forever. Hope that helps a little.

Oh, and a good walking boot/shoe (if she wants a heel) to wear with jeans would be something in a wedge, something like this.

That turtleneck is perfect! Mon loved the skirts too. The jacket would probably have to be in a darker colour.
Great stuff Erin, thanks!

Great stuff Erin, thanks! No prob! Ya, winter white is beautiful but a bitch to keep clean. A coat in black or dark brown would be very nice.
