What is the future of media? Will all music become free? Is all video going to be available for free on the internet? [Edited 1/7/07 15:22pm]

The internet; all you have to do is realise genuine hobbyists are so much more reliable than the news, and faster. It's been around for years - look at this site; you get all the information you need on one subject rather than less on many, and you get to discuss it. I can't believe how slow this "blog phenomena" has been to actually happen...but yeah - the future is blogs.

[Edited 1/7/07 15:22pm] Well there are two futures to consider. The world as it would grow without a world changing event. The world as it will be after the soon to come world changing events. News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so. You have those internalized issues because you want to, you like to, stop.

Expect the continued consolidation of media outlets. Also watch how the death of newspapers and their chains begins to augment the deplorable slide from international news to entertainment coverage.
This means fewer stories about Sudan and Somalia and more about Paris and Britney, as young rich kids' isolation and ADHD fuel entertainment outlets' profits. It's depressing. Oh, and reality TV will continue to shoot for the lowest common denominator, all while continuing to contribute to a writers shortage (Hollywood loves the reality TV formula, for its cheap writing & production costs). All of these things make a certain writer wish he'd gone to law school, after all... (less/fewer edit...) [Edited 1/7/07 23:38pm]

More niche marketing...think netflix or i- tunes, which both offer a wide amount of choices that will appeal to small groups of people, rather than a select few options meant to appeal to a mass audience. Everything old is new again...

Agreed. And TV news is completely fucked (they've already basically given up on being serious news providers), with print news falling down the hold right behind 'em. My preferred news source is a blog produced by the staff of the local alternative weekly (www.thestranger.com/slog). They break local news faster than anybody, post daily collections of snippets/links on the important nationa/international stuff, and the comments are entertaining. Not everybody is lucky enough to have a local blog this good at the moment, but eventually. . . oh noes, prince is gonna soo me!!1!

Jesus, when he was back in his day, lived some 30ish years before becomming required of god to do his thang. What do you think Jesus did for 30 years in a world where he was of higher consciousness then the rest? Do you think he sat under a tree? Do you think he did what people dood in that time? Life is a waste of time, and some moments of greatness or great failures. Think about it. News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.

i think television will become more and more obsolete because of stuff like youtube, podcasts, and tivo. or maybe commercials will have to be reworked or redirected some kind of way.
