What song...

...provokes a less-than-good feeling when you hear it? Don't answer on the basis of sucktitude, because there are a blue million songs out there that piss me off because they suck so damnably hard.

I want to know what songs are tied to a memory which leaves you with a melancholy feeling. What song was playing when you got dumped by someone you loved? That sort of thing.

I'll start:

Le Rendez-Vous by Manu Chao. I had been listening to this song, on repeat, because it made me happy the night I first escaped the house with my ex, Noel. I was in such a hurry when I left my house, I just grabbed my stuff and left without turning anything off. When we returned, it was still playing.

I tied this memory to a happy time, and continued to think of it happily in light of the song and our date in general. rolleyes Til he dumped me a year and a bit later. Now, when I hear it, it makes me want to stab a motherfucker.
This one's for you.

"Happy Xmas War is Over" by John Lennon... it was my Mum's favourite song and the last song she ever heard

"Friends in Low Places" by Garth Brooks... was played at the funeral of someone else very close

"Wind beneath my Wings" by Bette Midler is another one that is very emotional because of Mum

Eurythmics' 1984. I remember bouncing on my mum & dad's bed when it was on the radio. A asphixiating razor meloncholy takes the wheel of my throat when I hear that shit, man. I really, really wish I was 5 again.

Radiohead's OK Computer as an entire album makes me want to die then and there whilst I think of where I was at in my life as a gentle, pot-smoking 14 year old on the road to failure.

There are several, but that stupid pina colada song was kind of a "thing" in my last relationship (which I should have taken as a bad sign, but whatever), and now when I come across it, it's sad. Breaking somebody's heart really sucks.

this whole album. it brings up both bad and good memories for me: bad, because of the situation my dad and i were in at the time it was out...and good, because it was sorta like a musical babysitter for me when my dad was out all day and it made me kinda happy to listen to it.

Yeah, iam surprised you know them. I thought Haribo was Europe only. The pics they use for this type of sweet are a bit weird, but funny all the same. They are sweet erotica or whatever

The Ballad of Dorothy Parker. It was part of a mixed cd made for me full of songs that have my name (Joni) in them, by my ex. Can't really listen to the cd or any of the songs, but that one's the worst b/c it's Prince & Joni.

The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.
