I just don't want to see that smug and uninformed Mac asshole on the current Mac commercials doing any kind of advertising for this thing. Those commercials are a joke and a half. confused

why not have the phone AND be active with any or all of the issues above?

I suppose it's possible. Just seems $499+ for a phone that does everything the expensive items most of us probably already have can do seems... well.. redundant and unusually indulgent at a precarious time like this.

But, hey, to each his own. shrug

So is taking the time to post about iphones on prince.org, yet here we are shrug

I still use my cd walkman. Sure the cd's take up space in my bag, but i have to take my bag anyway.

Shit, i was the last one using cassette walkmans aswell.

I still don't see the appeal of mp3 players apart from convience. Same with dvd players. At least with them the picture is better then VHS, but where are the crappy trailers we use to see on VHS?

MP3's often sound shit from the ones my mates have.

Waste of money. Organising those things takes waaaaay too much effort. Just put in CD, and play. Thats it. Iam lazy.

You are fantastically tuned. smile I think you get more enjoyment out of a Michael Bolton video than Melvin Bragg would in the Louvre. Again, fantastic. hug

Iam sure you know this as I remember you liking Dylan

http://www.youtube.com/wa...ELDLpVmMZ4

Dylan co-wrote this? I like dylan, and I can hear him singing the middle 8. Thats the only indicator of him being apart of this I can notice?.....

..."what does all this living mean, when time itself is so obscene" or something like that. My dad still cant fathom such a meeting between the 2. Dylan surely cant be a fan LOL

In a few years, i'll be a big ass dylan fan probably. I like humour in my songs, and dylan is at times very funny.

Bob is a comedian, above all else. He started out as Charlie Chaplin but now he's evolved into Sir Rigor Mortis, the tyrant king of deadpan. He's been taking the piss out of perception since 1966. I think he feels very alone and lives to amuse himself and his God.

Yeah, i know its obvious, but i love "things have changed". There is a lyric about putting a woman in a wheelbarrow or something? I swear iam not making this up, but i might be getting confused with Michael boltons famous "wheelbarrow" ballad that he never released.

"said i loved you but i lied", for title alone, must mean bolton has a sense of humour surely?

Do you have any info about dylan and Bolton? Be interesting if they worked on more then one song

I'm getting the $599 one myself biggrin

One of the easiest things in the world is to judge how other people should spend their money. I'm comfortable with the causes I support and my occasional indulgences, ymmv.

I'm all for ease and being on both ends of a little judgement from time to time. smile Keeps us on our toes.

If you've reconciled your charity and indulgence, go get 'em, Tiger. Some, I fathom, haven't... and may be inclined to do so with a little prodding. The post -- and the judgement -- goes out to them... easy and unregrettable as it was.

As for you: Don't forget the extended warrantee.

I believe they're going to announce a 3g version to be released as well.
I will definitely be putting this on my shortlist of things to aquire, even if I have to swap over to Cingular. shrug

eh, gotta see how it performs in the real world enviro first. It does look promising. I'd like to see the battery life. I also don't like not having a keyboard. I'm using an 8525 now, the HTC Hermes. It gives me a hardon.

It does have a touch screen keyboard that pops up. I like that feature cuase it allows the phone to be thinner and look cleaner at the same time. I saw the keynote, and personally I think it's awesome. The trick of the device is to allow you to use the "keyboard" as little as possible allowing the most efficient way of getting at the information that you need. For texting and other things, the virtual touchscreen keyboard appears. Though I'm a little weary and excited at the sametime that it responsive enough not to nead a stylis.

I ended up giving my iPaq PDA away because of how frustrating it was to sit and peck at it with my stylis. Albiet a keyboard would have made it alot nicer of an experience, but I think Apple organic use of how you interact with the device is pretty crafty, if not altogether "Revolutionary".

What apple did here isn't so much reinvent the phone as the there is a smart device device out there with a touchscreen already that looks like an uglier version of the iPhone. I think what apple did was just make it all so god damned sexy looking.

Ironically, to me, this is the least "mac" looking of their devices in years. The only thing that would draw my attention to it being an Apple device is how clean and sleek it looks.

And God damned, that SOB has a version of OS-X on it? eek
The full blown web browser is also really nice.

I could go on and on, but I'm very impressed by it. That doesn't mean I'll run out and buy it--but it does mean, I'll dote on it for awhile. shrug

Something Jobs said in the keynote struck me as an acknowledgement of that, and that it may be supported in the future.

I will get an iPhone, but not the first generation. Apple (like most companies, I'd think) tends to make a lot of changes/improvements with the second generation. Plus, it'll take me that long to save the money and talk myself into switching back to Cingular (I've had vastly better network and customer service with Tmobile).

OK, I've changed my mind.

Mutli-text messaging, being able to dial numbers directly from email, Google Maps, etc., and multi-touch being patented, I'm made up my mind to swap over to the iPhone. It'll just be a matter of whether I swap right away or wait a few months.

multi-touch is patented. No other device has it.
As for the other features that PocketPC's (and webphones with that OS) offer aren't nearly as sexy.
