I was in NO pre-Katrina, so can't tell you about that... Apparently the historical centers were more or less preserved.

As for Orlando, I think what you've heard is pretty much correct... I was there a couple of years ago to meet up with my parents.

I should also explain I've got the choice, really, of going south down to Orlando or New Orleans (unfortunately no time or money to do both ) OR I have the option of going west to Minneapolis and over that way... down to Denver still and then to Vegas...

what do you think is best if I'm trying to make the most of time?

Ok I'd like to ask the Org's opinion and knowledge, once again... What is it really like in both Orlando and New Orleans? I've heard nothing but good things in the past about New Orlands but Orlando I've heard that there's nothing much there except the theme parks... is that true?

and what's New Orleans like now after Katrina? please don't take that as in insenstive question, it's just that if I don't ask I don't know, right?

True about New Orleans. I live just east of N.O. The crime rate has skyrocketed, too. The murder rate is so high that there may be a curfew.

And yeah, Orlando doesn't have much to offer except the Theme Parks, but those are a blast. You'll have a great time, but count on it being expensive.

I can imagine they would...but if I went to Orlando I'd most want to visit Cape Kernavral (sp) I've heard it's absolutely amazing to see! my friends were there and could have seen a live launch but the weather was really bad and it was called off. needless to say they were beyond disappointed.
