Have You Ever Been Stuck In An Elevator?

This morning my mom and I were on an elevator on the sixth floor going down to the lobby. A man got on the elevator on another floor and the elevator didn't feel like it was moving. I didn't feel that gentle but yet known stop. So I look at my mom and I said are we stuck and she said I think we are. The man pressed a few of the buttons and of course we were STUCK! He said well we can pull the button out to set off the alarm and I said hold on. I thought to myself there is no way I am going to stay in this elvator so I got my fingers into the opening of the crack of the elevator door and I pushed it as hard as I could. It stated to budge and I kept pushing it,(did you know the door has like three sections to it) until I got it all the way open. Then I realized we were not level with the floor. lol We were probably 9 inches or a little more above the floor. Meanwhile this man who is a pretty good size hasn't even helped open the door ecxcept to hold it open for a few seconds while he got out. I thought where has chivalry gone! So I helped my mom step down as she is with a cane and I even helped hold the door while the man got off. Good thing I'v got some muscles and a heck of a lot of persistance.

So has anyone else ever been stuck in an elevator and if so how long did it take for you to get out or were you able to get out by youself?

Then to top off the morning McDonalds didn't have any mini marshmallows for my hot chocolate. neutral lol

It was really scary! We got in the lift and pressed G and it immediately plummeted 3 floors before the breaks slammed on and we flew up and them smacked back down on the floor. Was not nice.

About 5 years ago I got stuck in one of those old school elevators. The kind where you have to hold the button to move and then line up the doors with the elevator. Well someone was able to open another door upstairs and it stopped the elevator. I was stuck between 2 floors and when my co-workers realized they were peeping through the window and waving at me. I felt like an animal at the zoo. They called police and security and it took them 45 mins to realize that it was an open door that stopped it mad That's what I get for being lazy and not taking the stairs!

Don't firefighters get called to "lift jobs" over there? That's how it's resolved over here.

I have nightmares about elevators free-falling all the time disbelief

My dad and I were stuck in the elevator in our apartment building, the doors had glass panels so I could see the floor level which was about 40cm from the top of the doors confused we pressed the alarm button and probably had to wait about an hour. I was probably about 5, but I wasn't scared, my dad was holding my hand the whole time. mushy

I got stuck in a lift in Paris once. To this day it was the smallest compartment I've ever been in -- apparently built to retrofit an old 1930s' apartment building and big enough to accommodate maybe two passengers. (Those damned, thin French.) Of all the glamorous places in Paris to die, this was gonna be it! neutral

I was stuck for only maybe 5 minutes, but it was HORRIBLE. I was totally helpless, because not only wasn't there a working emergency phone or bell, but my French was too shabby to request help, anyways. Plus... I was with my wife (whose better French I'd have to rely on), and I had to try and look cool. redface

When the party we were visiting realized we were taking an awfully long time to get upstairs, they came looking for us. Turns out I'd tried to open the inner cast-iron gate about a second before the car was completely inline with the floor. (It was off maybe an inch or so.) Once our friends stopped laughing at me... mad... they simply told me to close the friggin' gate. It worked, and we lived to tell the tale (or not hmph!shhh).

omg Dang, 7, sorry to hear that you got stuck in an elevator. I never actually got stuck in one, but this one building I used to work at downtown would do funny things. Sometimes when you would push the number of the floor you wanted to get off on, the elevator would go up past it. Then you had to either get off that elevator and get on another one, or wait until the elevator reached the highest floor and then push the number you wanted again, and pray that it will stop. It was crazy! lol
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.
