I knew that would catch your attention. I just didn't expect it to happen so quickly. lol

You haven't been disrespectful per se, but you seem very, very fond of the British culture. So fond, in fact, that it sometimes comes across as slight disdain towards other cultures, more specifically the American one. I'm not trying to tell you how you really feel though, only you know that, but I think us Europeans feel licenced by the current American government's stupidity to be overly cocky about our own cultures, and me you and many others are showing symptoms of that sometimes.

There are better ways to get my attention than making groundless assertions that have no factual evidence to back them up, but instead rely on conjecture and misguided assumptions , but to each his own smile

As a Brit, (forgive me) I'm fond of the multi cultural and largely tolerant society I grew up in, its the one I'm accustomed to and experience on a daily basis. I think you need to distinguish between "culture" and "politics." I'm not fond of current U.S foreign policy but who is? I'm also not fond of Tony Blair's stance on Iraq (yes, he's the British P.M) and I'm not beyond criticising my countries domestic and foreign policy. I'm not a flag waiving nationalist and never have been. I live in london, one of the most culturally diverse cities on earth and thats one of the reasons I love it. I'm tolerant and open minded, I'm also smart enough to KNOW that there is a distinction between American culture in general and the political policies of the American President.

Like I said, I was only describing how you come across sometimes, not what is really going on in your mind. Maybe the little bit of patriotism that you do have gets a bit overrepresented because the org lures it out? I remember for example Gold319 and her endless rants about how crappy it is in the UK. Nobody seemed more provoked and defensive because of that than you. You have my sympathy though. I criticize Sweden on an almost daily basis, but when some Japanese or Canadian had the nerve to do the same, then I bared my teeth. lol

I wasnt the most vitriolic when it came to Gold319, far from it. I responded to her (especially when she made comments about "foreigners") But nobody said we dont have our share of idiots.

Anyway. I know you're fond of discussing how others come across, but how about turning that critical eye on yourself now and again, you might find it enlightening. lol

3. Do you think George Clooney is really gonna run for president, and would he get your vote? I don't think he will run for president, it doesn't pay enough and he can't get discreet pussy. He would never get my vote. He should just shut up and act.

Velveeta cheese: Gift from the Gods of cheese or creepy because refridgeration is not necessary?

Does washing your clothes in hot water really make that much of a difference?

Hypothetical: You get $1000 dollars a day for the rest of your life, but you have to deposit it personally into a bank every day at noon allowing for no travel ever. Or..You can attract and have sex with any woman you want yet are flat broke. Sex only, not relationships...sex. And you can never earn any funds beyond simple living expenses.

Oooh, ouch! smile

I have the critical eye permanently turned towards myself, don't you worry. You'd be overjoyed if you knew how much self-hatred I feel.

1) Who was the funny one in the family before you...,mom, dad, or older brother sister from whom you learned people are better when they're funny...?

2) What was the best date you've ever been out on...?

3) Parker Posey calls you up and asks you out for a date. You know this will make Borgie jealous. Do you go, or do you say no thanks..?

1. do you mean funny "ha ha"? in that case, i'd say my mom. she was very witty in her day, and she taught me phrases like "you're about as worthless as tits on a flea." nod

2. i guess i've had some good dates in the past, but i've yet to have the one that i'll brag about as being the best.

3. i would say no thanks, because i'm always afraid famous people i admire will be assy in person, so i'd just rather save that potential disappointment for borgman to endure. biggrin

1. Thanks for the compliment. I initially just hung around the music and more section because I am an excessive Prince fan. Now I come to general discussion from time to time because the the folks here are some of the funniest/smartest people I have ever met. Although, it is much easier for people to be outgoing and brave behind a computer screen.

2. Batman related. In essence, Im a big child. I think I was DarkKnight once, but Im not real sure.

3. I always get Fetuccini with alfredo and mushrooms. Mushrooms are mandatory.
