How many of you are quitting smoking for the new year? I'm on my 4th day and it hasn't been bad at all. I've quit numerous times before so I know the deal...and now I'm sick so it's even easier sigh

I have been eating more, but I've also been exercising like a frekazoid so I'm blaming it on that...if I get fat I will kill.

Anyway I'm bored. Carry on.

Was shocked to hear you'd started again, 'cause you told me that wasn't an option. Glad to know you're givin' it another go. You can do it, darlin'!

As for the weight-gain thing, you have to be strict w/yourself in the beginning and not replace the smokes w/food.

Heartbreak will do it to ya! I couldn't eat for a month, I just smoked butts and drank coca-cola. Then I got hooked again.

I've been doing good. I worked last night at the bar and had 2, but better than a pack. I'm not craving them and refuse to buy them. If I bum one here and there that's fine.

Good on ya thumbs up! Hope you're still keeping strong. I've been wanting to give up but found it hard so I only permit myself (with a struggle lol ) to spark up on nights out and at work. It's backed fired because I'm smoking twice as many on the job now.

BTW, I, being British and hearing you "bumming butts at work" rather amuses me lol as I type this, chuckling under my Bowler hat.

See now if I said "bumming fags at work" then that would sound even worse to me!

It's a vicious cycle...this whole quitting smoking thing. Especially working in the bar scene and what not. But I think I'll do ok. I'm not gonna beat myself up if I have one here or there, I just can't buy a whole pack.

I did that, but it didn't really work. Cutting down is better than nothing (it started again as just a puff from someone's cigarette) but eventually I started smoking butts, bumming regularly (which can annoy our friends), and when those people were away, I eventually broke down & bought a pack.

But that's just my experience. It's easiest for me to not smoke at all.

You seem crabbier than usual.

Maybe you should start smoking again.

It's smoke free everywhere darling! It's just knowing that your friends are outside smoking that makes you want to join them! But much to my surprise, half the people I work with at the bar are quitting too. So it will be easier.

I can be a social smoker. The only time I craved one was last night after dinner and it only lasted a second or two. I'll be fine if I just have one or two on the weekends. I just can't buy a pack.

Really?? I'm surprised...well actually no. Townies don't like to be told what to do. You have no choice in the big cities!!

I've done it before, I can do it again. For the most part I won't smoke at all, but I'm not gonna beat myself up if I cheat here and there. It's not like I"m gonna say "Hey I wanna smoke tonight so I'm gonna find a bar with a bunch of people who will give me cigarettes!!!".

woot!

Ten days without a cigarette here.

Uhm that is to say, I smoked one cigarette a week ago, after a huge fight. And until now, I still don't want to quit smoking some weed once in a while. It suits me better than alcohol. So I've taken some puffs in Dublin. The beer was too expensive. biggrin

But hey, this is only a small amount of tobacco, no? My skin looks better. Or I imagine it to look better, but that's fine a well. And I can breathe deeper.

I'm not the kind of person who starts smoking in the morning, but in a pub, it's terrible. After ten years, it's starting to look dirty.

I just went to have a tea in a Belgian pub, and could resist. It was harder though than during my trip in smoke-free (almost) Dublin.
