He had back up dancers that served their purpose as the other N'sync members, so he wasn't really alone. His performance was O.K.

Shakira's performance was the best, Eminem was a little hostile towards an audience member, and to a little dog that makes fun of the celebrities, .J.Lo's name was mentioned about 15 times, and Sheryl Crow's song was really pretty. No Doubt won two awards. P.Diddy did a cool performance with Busta, and Nas did pretty good also with his 'one mic' song. Ashanti's performance was O.K, but you could really tell she wasn't really singing, but her walk made up for it, for the fans, that is. By the way, she was nominated about 3 times, but didn't win anything. I was surprised because they were hyping her up so much.

I was really touched when T-Boz and Chilli went up, they looked so empty, you could tell Left eye's presence was missing. I don't like how they started playing 'No scrubs' as they walked away. For that they should've played 'Waterfalls' instead. I don't like the stupid jokes they make through out the show.

Hey, they showed Prince in one of the clips of a previous show. He had the 'Rave' outfit on, and was announcing one of TLC's awards. I think it would be cool to see him up there again...

Was it just my imagination, or did someone from the audience scream "SHUT UP!" when the Olsen twins took the stage?

And was it also my imagination when some people started booing Rudolph Guliani?

I thought it was funny when Jimmy Fallon cracked that Fat Joe had just eaten one of the twins, although I'm sure Mr. Fallon got some shit for it afterwards.

No, it wasn't your imagination, I did heard the Guilliani boos...the others, I have to watch it again.

Is anyone offended by some of the other jokes??? I like comedy and fun, but I don't like it when they mix it with serious issues, or use the humor to poke fun at people. I find it insulting. For instance, the R Kelly and Fat Joe jokes and other innuendos were just over the line (to me). I don't laugh at them.

I thought the R Kelly joke was great. But the Olsen twins looked very unhappy about it. I also found the Fat Joe cracks funny but probably not very appropriate. I felt bad for the guy - he also looked super pissed.

DMX should have won at least one award for 'Who We Be.'

And I can't keep all of these new bands straight - The Vines, the Hives, the White Stripes, the Strokes - yikes! eek

Last year I found Jamie Fox(x) very unfunny. His mock "tempting" of that guy (A.J.?) from The Backstreet Boys with a bottle of drink was very inappropriate. I found most of his so-called controversial jokes fell flat and he just came across as rude. I've taped this years so I'm hoping Jimmy Fallon will be funnier.

I don't think they were boos...I don't know I think some kinda new "cheer" is happening...cause the bruce springsteen crowd sounded like they were booing too...but they weren't. ?? don' t know what was up with that.

I thought that Jimmy fallen was fucking (yep..I said it) hilarious!! way way WAY funnier than those 2 fools they had last year, was that last year?? or the year b4?, either way...Jimmy fallen kicked everyone else who has ever hosted that show's ASS!! I didn't think any of his jokes were over the line...his fat joe joke! holy shmoly that was F-U-N-N-Y!! Natsume...you felt bad for the guy??? why? nobody made him fat...but him (his name is fat joe) LOL and he said that if he won an award he was going to take his shirt off...I think he's alright with his weight...although he didn't seem to enjoy the joke...LOL.
His opening to the sho was great! I hope he hosts it every year ...well...maybe just next year too

I think in cases like that, it's okay if you make fun of yourself, but it still stings when somebody else does it. Dunno. There are some things that I find a tad inappropriate to crack jokes at, and weight is one of them.

Fat Joe may be allright with his weight, but it may have been hurtful to have Jimmy Fallon BROADCAST THOSE TASTELESS CRACKS AT HIM ACROSS AMERICA. If you were in Joe's position, would you feel the same?

Weight is a VERY sensitive issue, and my heart went out to him.

I think he was probably thanking her for the kiss...did she kiss him??? I can tell you where some of the boos were probably coming from. Many people in the inner city communities had no 'LOVE' for Guilliani. He was booed everywhere, even in the Puerto Rican Day parade, and he'd still show up every year (that was funny about it). And with the Amadou Diallo case, and the situation with the police, there was a lot of tension in the air before it was cleared when he appeared to be sort of like a hero on 9/11. Everyone appreciated his work, efforts, and supports, without a doubt. So when he mentioned, 'I'd be out there giving tickets to people right about now' or something like that, that just didn't help. It just came as a reminder of the bad past how every which way someone turned, guess who was paying up?.

About the fat Joe jokes, I think there's a difference when you are being 'funny' and when a person is 'insulting' another person just to be funny. I think it goes with the saying "if you don't have nothing nice to say, don't say nothing at all". The Olsen twins were not laughing and neither was Fat Joe. Why? Because they were insulted, so there's no humor in there. There were other members in the audience that were very serious that you couldn't miss. Me, as a spectator from home, was one of them. It's like you're making fun of people, instead of trying to make them laugh, or have some fun. 'Don't point your fingers' at people's faces, that's just disrespectful'. Well, it works the same way here.

The way that Fat Joe, refers to himself as Fat, is not making fun of himself. I think it's just a very obvious physical characteristic that people will know him by that he uses. He probably does not understand how, if it's his way of changing around a negative characteristic about himself into something good, that it's really doing him more damage than good. Fat Joe, Biggie Smalls, Big Pun, were all upcoming artists about the same time, and it became sort of a sad trend, (that I don't think is being used anymore). They made their marks and that's it. But word has it that Fat Joe wasn't always fat either, that he was actually slim when he was younger. "Fat" was once also a term spelled 'phat' to mean something that is really nice or just really 'cool'. I know you people know about this, and it was used a lot then when he was upcoming also when he made his first hit.

I also find that it's sort of like when a person is not so very good looking, let's say, 'ugly' and they, and everybody else knows it, and the person has made comments before about how 'ugly' the are. But when a person tells them, 'ill, you look just like your dog, you shouldn't eat here, go share a plate with him and toss something out from the dinner table onto the floor, and then laugh at them, that's insulting and it is not funny. I think later whoever did that will realize that what they did was not humorous and apologize many times if they have any heart in them.

I think to say that's good for him, is an insensitive way to justify those rude remarks. It was their stupid way, that they always use, to entertain the people that comes across as offensive to many people. That's how the heck you know that IT'S JUST NOT FUNNY.

And, they need to get rid of those lazy fans talking trash, and the little 'pop' commercials they show before presenting the award. They're just not cute, and it makes everything look worst than what it already seems.

SSL (Sorry so long...I know I strayed a little)

I think it's a comedian thing...I'm not saying that makes everything ok...but it's no surprise that comedians pick on people for a living. LOL I didn't think Jimmy was half as bad as others b4 him who've hosted that show...I hear what your saying about being sensitive about weight issues..I don't want you to think I'm not sensitive about it...I'm just saying, using your logic...comedians would be out of a job...if you can't pick on a fat celebrity...then you can't pick on a skinny one either...and if you can't pick on them then you can't pick on anyone in the audience which is what all of the hosts do...at some point...I mean...J-lo got it bad last year (or the year b4)...it's like a mini roasting...and I don't think anyone thinks they are exempt. but must my opinion.

___

I understand what you're sayinig too...but like you said Fat joe calles himself that because it's an "obvious physical characteristic" EXACTLY! so he shouldn't be surprised that others notice this too...and that a comedian would perhaps make a joke about it...
I think that if he'd gone on and on about fat joe I would have thought it was bad too...but he made one lil joke..and moved on. that's why I didn't think it was over any lines
It didn't appear that Joe thought it was funny but...then agian it also looked like he may have not heard it either...who knows...I say let fat joe be upset if he want's too...he's a big boy..he can take care of himself..ya know...I don't think he needs anyone worrying about him. the whole "phat vs fat" thing...yeah...I get the concept, but it's Fat Joe...not Phat Joe...so...I dunno. Your "ugly" comments...I agree completely!! there was a situation like that here on the org a while back, where I was the one sticking up for the girl who was called ugly...I don't think anyone should say that to someone...it's just a different matter and doesn't have any real revelance to this discussion...IMO.
anyway..thanx for the input and discussion. I just wanted you to know that ...I thought jimmy was very funny and that doesn't make me insensitive...I hope smile
