oh hon.... I'm sorry for your loss. sad

I lost my childhood pet, a cat, almost 6 years ago and I STILL won't have another pet because it just was too much for me to handle when it was his time to go.

It's such a terrible thing.

Our family recently had to euthanize our 17 year old English Setter. She was having a hard time walking and getting up, was confused, etc. ....she made the decision for us. Asked the Vet if there was any way he could prescribe something we could give her at home rather than take her, in her condition, to a cold sterile place where she would know what's up. One person in town did home euthanasia and wasn't available until the next day. Couldn't wait because of deteriorating circumstances. Dug up whatever narcotics we had in the house...old prescribed stuff for coughs, pain, whatever, and gave it to her. It worked. She was pretty sedated when we took her in. Made a BIG difference in doing what needed to be done.

I understand how you feel. I had to put down my dog, a couple of years ago.

People ask me:

"You haven't broken down and gotten another one yet?"

disbelief

Hang in there, sis. hug Romans 8:28

ya'll are so kind!

The dog was wondering where the hell the kitty was today. I feel good about making sure she died painlessly though. It beat the way she was going. THAT was heartwrenching.

poor doggie bawl I always feel bad for the other pets, we as humans can rationalize and comfort ourselves but for the other animals they are just gone. When my kitty died, my boy cat looked for her for YEARS. I dropped her collar and the bell rang and he came running, sniffing and looking around, it made me cry and it had been 3 years since she died. I know doggie is getting lots of hugs and love.

hug

hang in there mama.

I'm so sorry. That is one of the toughest things we, unfortunately, have to deal with in our lives if we want the companionship of a pet. It is so hard and I really hope that you're dealing with it okay.

Sorry.
