Well I was born in Taegu, South Korea March 27th, 1980. My father at the time was in the Air Force and actually took a class in Korean so he could ask my mother out on a date cause he saw her at a library. (I am half Korean Half Italian and have my communion in both the Catholic and Buddhist faith, although its not called communion in buddhism, but whatever) I did not learn how to speak English until I was 4 years old. So I am fluent in Korean. From the age of 4 I moved to a different place every year till my father retired from the service when I was 13, and we settled in California. Due to the fact that we moved around so much, I had to become gregarious to make quick aquaintances. My sister on the other hand is deathly shy, cause she hated making a friend then losing them one year later. My father after he retired went to work as a background investigator for the INS while he gathered enough money and investors to start up his resturaunt business that he opened 7 years ago. It is a british pub and resturaunt. This is when my parents divorced due to the fact that my father cheated on her with a prospective business partner. They opened another one 3 years ago, and just closed on a property in mission viejo to open a 3rd this year. My father was my basketball coach in high school for my first two years cause he played for Seton Hall University, and I also ended up playing college basketball, even though I had a couple football scholarships, which is ironic cause I am now a football coach.

Why must you diss the power of plaid? Was there something in your youth that haunts you about this particular fashion?

My earliest memory that I can recall as a 3 year old were my parents doting on me and telling me that I was born to do awesome things beyond what they could imagine. I don't think a high school football coach/middle school language arts/special ed teacher is what they dreamed! lol

For the most part no. He was/is a great dad/grandpa. The two things I have some resentment for are the fact that he cheated on my mom after nearly 20 years of marriage (my father and I actually have a relationship very similiar to the father and son combo in that movie Love & Basketball, which is why when I see that movie it always has devestating results) and that he constantly tells me that I am not raking in the money that he deems worthy i should be making.

I feel that he has good intentions, however it gets old when he harps on it, you should be making more money, go into business with me, blah blah blah!! Yes I don't get paid large amounts. Last year if you don't count my coaching stipend, I mad a whopping 53,000 dollars! My father in comparison made 712,000 dollars. Yes the money would be nice, but at the end of the day it comes down to this, he's doing what he loves, I'm doing what I love. I'm only 26. Maybe as I get older and jaded it will be about the paycheck.

I have told him verbatim, "Thanks pops. You're living your life let me live mine." I think he just has this need to overcompensate cause he fucked up with my mome and knew it had really messed up our personal relationship (once again like the love and basketball story) But I must admit, one of the reasons I did work my ass off to get a masters degree by 24 was I wanted dad to be proud that I was a man of academia. biggrin

I am generally happy. The only thing that troubles me is I always thought I would be married by now. and nearly was august 4th, 2005 but got cheated on 3 months before the day. I always thought education, check, career check house check. Marriage. I know I am only 26 but i want to get married. Now I have enjoyed the past two years of singleness and male whoring, but I have come to realize this isn't me. It helped boost my ego and sow some wild oats. But I am most def, a commitment guy. I have lots of good things to share, just need to find someone worthy of sharing it with. I am actually in seattle with my nephew sister and her husband. My sister is a year younger than me and seems so happy with her life, husband, kid house. She always says its a lot of work and I should not worry about not getting married until I'm 30. but oh well.

Why do you feel pressured to be married by a certain age?

I don't know. I think there are several reasons #1 Everyone in my intermediate family was married by 25.#2 2 out of my 3 best friends are married. They are my age. The third friend is just a slacker vagabond type. #3 I have always wanted progeny and a good woman to help me raise them #4 I have so much space in my home and just one of me #5 I feel I'd be a good husband father.
