Comic Geeks

Where are all my fellow comic book lovers?? The new FF trailer is released and I don't see 1 thread about it? http://trailers.apple.com...versurfer/

After seeing the previous FF movie, my only concern is how they're going to screw with the Silver Surfer & his origins...

I agree with you that it was pretty bad. However, when compared to Roger Corman version in '94 it looks like Academy Award winning material. While I do think that the storyline was utter crap, I believe that the movie captured the essence of both the individual characters and their inter-personal relationships. I'll do just like I did with the first one; I won't spend $10 to see it in the theater but I will have it in my blockbuster queue when it come out on DVD.

I sometimes question the wisdom of management at Marvel. They license out their characters only to let the director/studio change the basic framework of the story. It is often that basic framework which made it work so well in written form.

I agree with you, I'll see it cause I'm a hopeless fanboy, but I'll expect disappointment.
sigh

they completely failed with Doctor Doom, and I'm sure they'll do the same with everyones favorite former herald of Galactus. shrug

Word...I don't get my hopes up for anything marvel does anymore...and they killed my favorite character Thanos recently with some BS...I think Civil War is nonsense as well...I only buy 2 books now its all I can stand. I will probably watch Ghost Rider even though Im expecting it to be Electra level bad...I just like GR too much not to watch...

Marvel has become like DC during the "Batman & Robin" days. F4 sucked the big one, and believe me, the sequel will be just as bad. I'm really pissed the way they screwed up Doom's character. They should have done him the way he is in the comic - a brilliant, malevolent dictator - the flip side of Reed.

Aside from Spiderman and the first two X-Men flicks, Marvel's been putting out sh!t.

FF was my favorite comic growing up. I've checked back in occasionally, but nothing compares to what Jon Byrne did for it.

I guess I'm happy with any FF movie. The effects were pretty bad in the first, and the origins were jacked, sure. But I always figured there'd never be an FF flick since it requires more of a suspension of disbelief...

Hey, are they making The Silver Surfer some kind of villain or something. That's what some friends are saying. That can't be right.

Not a villain..the trailer for the FF is misleading..it does show "the flame" taking off after the SS, and destroying several buildings etc in the process

let's pray they don't. And the sad thing is, imagine if they did do a whole movie on Galactus coming to Earth and Norrin Radd fighting to save the humans that hate him. You know the potential it could have as a GREAT sci fi movie? Imagine the effects??

It's nice to dream. sigh

I just saw her on Superman. I'm obsessed with Brandon Routh right now.

Is Frankie Raye already cast? She could be Medusa in the third movie when they find the Inhumans.

I'd love to see a 3rd movie, with Galactus showing up & pitting Terrax against the Silver Surfer, but 'rock manipulation' has not been one of the franchise's strong points.

My memory might be failing, but wasn't Frankie Raye the next herald, Nova?

Very easily done...
The Silver Surfer is the herald of Galactus. He could just be here to let them know that Galactus is coming... He fights with the FF... Then realizes that the Earth is worth saving... Which sets up FF #3 as the FF & the Silver Surfer team up against Galactus

I agree!! Having Doom as on the space station as the 5th member of the team was stupid; as were the "powers" he inherited as a result of his Gamma Ray exposure. Oh how I long for the Latverian dictator who dabbled in the mystic black arts...
