So. My name is Herman. I am 35 years old and this thread feels like a dating thread, which is of course logical, as this site is, when it boils down to it, a dating site. This is where all the lonely people come to lead substitute lives. I hope I will get out at one point in life.

I live in Amsterdam with two cats; Mannetje & Vrouwtje. I work in a boring bookstore and am currently looking for a new job, preferably from 9 to 5 in an office without internet access.

In my sparetime I write children's stories and thriller/fantasies, have a slight addiction to music collecting and falling in love with unavailable men.

My substitute life here was dwindeling, but recently has been acting up. Lots of things have been acting up; I have noticed I am old by my sudden love for cigars, cognac and Beatles music.

I don't. The sand just gets in your asscrack and makes any spontaneous spur of the moment a grating experience.

And spit won't help.

I'm Dave, also go by Vid, I'm also from Kelowna, BC, Canada. 21 years of age. single, and starting to not enjoy as much as i have for the past year. I was a banquet cook at a local resort and had gone to college for culinary arts, but have found i rather prefer cooking for smaller groups, like friends and family only. I now work customer care for a major USA Cellphone company. I'm also trying to figure out what i'd like to do.

PURRRRR
I can't cook, besides patatoes and everything you can throw in a wok.

And as a 35 y/o with the same happening to him at almost the same age (dropping out of a study), I can advice to not wait too long to figure out what you want.
If you cannot figure out quickly enough, please take a course in a degree that might take you somewhere; a general course.

Also, while I lived in Paris, my favourite restaurant was one where Dimitri, this Greek chef, had a little place with the kitchen right in the restaurant itself. He would cook AND serve you. His food was delicious and his service was always so damn' personal and fun that it was a pleasure to spent my time there.

I think that it's the general grumpyness that sucks.. And you could sum up Finland this time of year in one word: GRAY...

If you need to come and visit here, come in the summer, when we're a bit happier..

Far from it. Just get on the Stockholm subway and you'll think you're in a communist-era Polish documentary. rolleyes

Then again, I'm not the best person to speak on behalf of the Swedes since I've never felt connected to the culture or the mentality. Or rather; I've lived with it most of my life so of course there's a certain bond, but I've never felt like it's defined me. I'm a person from Sweden much more than I am a Swede if that makes any sense.

Ganska rolliga hela tiden.. biggrin My swedish's soooo bad..

Well at least you can say something in Swedish! If someone asked me to speak Finnish I'd be like "ummmm....errr.....yxi kaxi kolme....mumin? confused".

I know finnish is damn hard.. And swedish has kinda stuck on since it has been obligatoriska for me from 7th grade.. smile

My boyfriend always says that he isn't finnish: he's international.. Finland's too small for him.. biggrin Ever since I visited Italy last summer, I've hated Finland.. The only people here who dare to talk to strangers in busses or on the street are either drunk or hobos... biggrin We think it's really uncomfortable if anyone you don't know so well talks to you.. And we despise people blabbering about their private issues.. It's soooo embarrasing.. lol Idiots we are..
