"The Good Shepherd"

did anyone see this movie yet? I saw it and it is EXCELLENT!!! I loved it, Matt Damon is now on my list of favorite actors. That man really acted his butt off in that movie. All of the performances were great, even John Turturro was great, but i haven't really seen him give a poor performance in a movie anyway...but he was off the chain.

Rob (Robert DeNiro)did a great job directing, although the movie was a bit long, this movie is on my personal list of great movies released in 2006. Not to give away too much, but the movie was about the beginnings of the CIA and my boy Matt Damon was more like the "Michael Corleone" of the CIA. Maybe this is why i liked it so much. It's no way another "Godfather", but in some ways it has some faint similarities.

If you haven't seen it yet, go see it. It's definitely one of those movies that is worth ACTUALLY going to the movies to see. nod

Matt Damon's decent, but I don't like him for some reason. Maybe he reminds me of me too much.

Is this directed by De Niro?

I've haven't heard good things about this film from mates in the States who have seen it.

But who cares! It's a Bobby De Niro film so I shall be watching it anyway biggrin

Second Directorial outing for Uncle Bobby. Man, he's made us wait forever and a day since "A Brox Tale" (which was wicked! A mini education in life thumbs up! ).

Well the only thing bad that i've read about the movie as far as the reviews went was the length of the movie, but that was about it. I never go by reviews anyway, just my personal reviews only batting eyes

You are right, he has kept us waiting for over 10 years!!! I loved "A Bronx Tale"!!!

Personally, I try to avoid reviews of films before I go watch them. I mean mates as in "Joe Public" who live in the States that have seen it. Came out last Friday didn't it smile

This got panned for being almost 3 hours but I really want to see it without the substance to back it up. I think DeNiro actually doing something worthwhile is really my only real need to see this.

well when you do see the movie, you don't notice how long it is until after it's over and you look at your watch...but to me it kept me interested, it didn't even seem like 2 and half hours....it went by so quickly.

he was good in that, too. Maybe he just can't stop smiling, even when he's dead serious? something makes me want to punch him, almost but not quite in the Tom Cruise kind of way

oh don't worry about that, I think his total smile time throughout this movie was a total of 5 minutes, if that. He really doesn't smile at all for the whole 2 1/2 hours on screen.

Haven't seen it yet, but part of it was filmed at the museum where I work. I think they used the museum as the Russian consulate or embassy or something. nod

They were here last January filming and everyone was peeking out the windows into the garden to see if we could see anything. I only saw Matt Damon walk through the gate & across the garden from the 2nd floor. neutral But the days they filmed all the contemporary cars normally parked on the street were replaced with 50s cars. cool
