Oi. This is an understatement, but throat cancer is a heckuva way to go. I've has a couple aunts and uncles go that way, and it gets ugly toward the end.

R.I.P., Bruh Evans. rose

eek Don't smoke and try to get genetic counsuling, it can be sometimes genetic and maybe you can prevent yourself from ever getting it.

And co-sign, R.I.P. Mike rose

Anx

He was my favorite Lionel (there was a Lionel #2, wasn't there?) and I had no idea how influential he was to television in the '70s. I know how much integrity the cast of Good Times had in making sure the show was entertaining, but at the same time a realistic and progressive portrayal of the Evans family, and it seemed like a very personal labor of love for Mike Evans (to name a character after oneself is not for nothin', after all). It appears he definitely left his stamp, and hopefully he'll get the accolades he deserves. RIP pray

I heard this news while on stand by yesterday at LaGuardia airport (thread to come later). Im so sad to hear about this. Not only was he my favorite Lionel but this is my favorite sitcom ever. Mike Evans was more true to the original Lionel than Damon Evans, IMO. He was more street savy, having been from Harlem and all. Lionel #2 (Damon Evans) seemed much more sophisticated and didnt have the same edge. Alot of people dont know this but Damon Evans was also a trained opera singer in real life.

R.I.P. MIKE EVANS. You will be missed!

Damn, I just heard about this from a friend. I'm so sorry to hear this. Great actor, t.v. writer, and creator. His breakout performance on All in the Family was outstanding and he will always be the best Lionel Jefferson. The role just wasn't the same when he left to work on Good Times. RIP sad
