The "I Hate Children" Thread What is it with people and their kids lately everwhere I look there is idiot child doing some annoying idiotic thing. It use to be children were seen and not heard, now everything is "what about the children" "no child left behind" its ridiculous. I go to a nice resturant and some kid is making so much noise I can't talk to my date. I go to a movie (and I don't see any PG stuff) and some kid is so loud I can't hear the film. I'm on a plane child and if it is not next to me its in the seat ahead of me with its head turned backwards like Regan in the Exorcist stairing at me. I have a joke with my friends that I could go to a topless bar and there would a child sitting behind me. 23 more days to Ball Dangle Day!!!!!

small in children in really nice restaurants bother me. I don't mind it so much when I'm at the Olive Garden or some similar place but when I'm at a high price, high class kind of a place it can irk me.
However, I find that many times it's the parents and not the kids. Kids are like dogs, they're only as good as their parents..or..um..owners in the case of the dogs.

My friend and I joke that Manhattan should be "no kids allowed." There's plenty of room in Staten Island, Bronx, Queens & Brooklyn for people who wanna have kids, but Manhattan is for grown ups!
I'm not a big fan of kids--especially badly behaved ones, which I realize is largely a result of the parents. But what really irks me is when there is a bratty, obnoxious kid who is obviously disrupting everyone (whether on the bus, the store, wherever) and the parents think it's cute. Like a kid singing their ABCs at the top of their lungs on the bus. You can tell the parents are like, "Oh that's so adorable" I just want to say, "Do you LOVE all the same things I do? No, you don't, so don't expect me to love your kids--their behavior is not cute to anyone but you." Ugh, I hate kids. My niece and nephew even work my nerves even though I only see them once a year--they're at that really bratty stage: 2 and 4.

Well said, I agree a 100% I think people who have kids need to realise that those of us who don't made a choice and should respect that. It doesn't take a village to raise a child it takes its fucking parents to raise a child. 23 more days to Ball Dangle Day!!!!!

Your kids need to be raised either above 110th St. or in the boroughs in order to be normal. The End.

Yeah, but it's like some people can't fathom anyone not wanting kids. My grandparents are still dillusional that one day I'll get married and have kids. Married, maybe; but I definitely do NOT want kids. And not only do some people not get that not everyone wants kids, they don't understand why you don't like theirs. I'm afraid we're going to be in the minority and this thread is going to go up in flames eventually...

I don't blame the kids. The parents are prolly just dragging their kids to places they don't want to go.

You've got it all round the wrong way!
If you don't like sharing public spaces with children, you need to find somewhere else to go!

Little kids should be on leashes when they're in the mall. Every time I try to walk through a store or through the mall, and some little kids are passing by, they always run right into my legs nearly tripping me.
One of these days I'm gonna scream "I'm not your dad!!!!" and punt the little fuckers as far as I can.

I don't disagree with that at all I was probably a hideous little child, but its not like I hang out on places that cater to children I work in a casino, I go to resturants that are expensive and don't have child menus. I could understand people saying to me, "dude, if you don't like kids stop haning out at Toys R us and going to Mc Donalds" but I never go to those places. 23 more days to Ball Dangle Day!!!!!

I personally find that people who "hate" kids and/or animals are fucking weirdos in general.
I can, however, understand how some children can work people's last nerves...but if kids are being little terrors, you should "hate" the parents because it's their fault. It would be a little less weird to say "I hate parents that raise their children to be little jerks". We all know the kids that are raised to be little jerks tend to grow up to be adult jerks...and often they end up being the ones that "hate" kids.

Ex-Moderator | I'm with the 'blame the parents' crowd. There's nothing worse than parents who bring children where they don't belong and have no business being. If you can't afford a sitter, you can't afford to go out. Plain and simple. You should be doing a family activity instead.
In general I feel about kids they way I do about dogs. They're adorable and sweet when well behaved and belong to someone else, they're just not for me. |

I don't hate animals, i have two dogs, I agree with about half of what you said I am definately not of the norm. People in general are growing up thinking they have a right and a privlage to things that most people must work for. I have a unique job that shows me the ugliness of society, and people in general are becoming more rude, inconsiderate, self centered , obnoxious beasts, without a shred of elegance or class. 23 more days to Ball Dangle Day!!!!!

F U people...I have great kids who can hold grown up conversations
and everything. Not every kid picks n eats his own mucus, pisses on himself or marks up the walls with their greasy fingers. It's a BIG challenge to raise children in todays society...and a bigger challenge to raise good ones. Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

It's called growing up and learning about the world around you. It's the parents that have to take the time to teach them what is acceptable bevahior and what is not. It's really that simple...although the job itself is certainly not an easy one. [Edited 12/17/06 16:58pm]
