What a nightmare, my ongoing saga with the Dr.

Well, some of you know I went to the ER last week for shooting pains in my head.

This past Wednesday, I went home sick from work because my head starting hurting so badly I became violently ill. I had to stop the car four times on the way home to vomit out the car door.

Went to the doctor yesterday, I'm now going to see a neurologist because they think that I might have something wrong with one of the large arteries in my head, either swollen or inflammed.

So....merry fucking christmas to me, I'm worried I might drop dead at any second from an aneurysm.

eek hug Don't make it anything bad before you know what's going on please.
I've had major migraine attacks a few times, they are also horrible, made me panic. Maybe it is not as bad as you imagine.

I hope you'll find out soon what's going on, and I hope you'll be fine, hang in there and try to relax, it will probably be better for you if you relax a bit anyway. hug hug

Have the doctors take a look at the alignment of the bones of your neck.

Take care of yourself and I hope and pray you feel better soon.

Is your physician Family Practice? Internal Medicine? Headaches, along with nausea and vomiting can be caused by stress. There are other conditions with that symptomology that are treatable. Unless you had a CT scan it's difficult to assume anything. Did you have bloodwork that was out of range, a lumbar puncture?
Not knowing the cause is reason enough to have a headache. At least you weren't referred to a neurosurgeon!

Oh my goodness, take care of yourself. hug There ARE a lot of things it could be besides what the doctor thinks might be possible. Hopefully the neurologist will be able to find the cause and fix it.

For patients with severe migrains, an intramuscular injection of Demeral breaks the cycle and it goes away. That's what many ER docs prescribe. Too bad you didn't get a prescription for pain meds until you could get seen by a neurologist.
Did you try Advil or Naproxyn?? Caffeine helps some people.
If worse comes to worse, call your primary care physician and see if he/she can call a prescription in to a pharmacy. There should always be someone on-call to cover weekends.

I've had migraines since I was about five years old. I KNOW what migraines feel like. I've taken everything under the sun for them, the only things that works is Advil (Ibuprofen). This is completely different. I argued with my doc for about ten minutes, trying to explain that this is not a migraine.

She thought that the visual problems and facial numbness were an aura, until I told her that I don't experience auras ever, and the numbness and vision distortion is constant. I found a small lump above my ear, in my left temple, that when pressed, causes everything to hurt, and is the source of my pain. She then looked at her associate, and said hmmmmm, maybe you should see the neurologist. It could be an artery, better safe than sorry. She did give me Vicodin last week (which I stopped taking because I can't work in that state), so now she's given me some anti-nausea pill and Percocets (taken only at night).

I don't like opiate prescriptions, so I'm back to square one with the Advil.

You obviously never had a severe migraine, ibuprofen doesn't help, and from what she's telling us it doesn't sound like she is having migraine at all!
