but the older I got, the more I realised his poetry was poor and his opinions the reflexes of a emotional, bi-polar, depressed gadfly. I don't think he was very intelligent. Still love his tunes and lyrical honesty, though. But he's Jesus for dumb people.

Wow, you really have conflicted feelings about your saviour, huh? comfort

Oh, aye. But I've always thought that if there actually was a concious event horizon at the Big Bang, it would admire a creation which wriggled and kicked opposed to some repentant fearmonger on their knees.

Purely metaphorically, of course. Well?

Men aren't beautiful, we tend to be ugly, good looking or handsome.
We can however be angelic or saintly when the need arises.

It's an interesting point he makes there. I do believe that it's hard to be for example truly unselfish if you're consciously trying to do unselfish things or as you say recognize it in yourself. That's when the "unselfishness paradox" that cynics love to talk about comes into play (you know, that "people only do unselfish actions to make themselves feel good, which is selfish" yadda yadda...). As long as you're completely focused on the other person and their well-being I think you can be purely unselfish.

So yeah, I do think Lennon is right, at least to a certain extent, and I do agree that we should stop looking inward. As for "leading", that should be a side effect of us just trying to live our lives the way we know we should. If we do that, others might follow which might in effect make us into leaders.

You can trust Woody to say something like that. lol

By the way, you might want to know that when Bruce Springsteen was in Stockholm recently he spent at least half an hour writing autographs outside the hotel even though it was freezing and he'd just gotten off a ten-hour flight. Then, thirty seconds after he'd gone into the hotel and disappeared, he came back out to give back a pen he had accidentally taken from a fan. I thought that was pretty classy....for an old rock bum like him. razz

lol I have no idea who the people in the first picture are. But I'm familiar with Börje Salming, he's mostly known for his underwear label these days though. And yeah - the good old Swedish chef. He's actually based on a real Swedish chef who was spotted by Jim Henson when he was on an American cooking show and mumbling all kinds of stuff with the thickest accent you've ever heard. Today he has based his life on the muppet character and tours the world with his Swedish chef performance. Talk about life imitating art imitating life, eh? lol
