Revenge-minded Seahawks. With their loss on Sunday, the Seahawks missed out on a chance to claim the NFC West title. Seattle will get another opportunity at the division and be out for revenge when the Seahawks host the 49ers on NFL Network's Thursday night game (8 p.m. ET). San Francisco won the first meeting 20-14 on Nov. 19, but Seattle was without Matt Hasselbeck.

I wished it would have turned out better. It was fitting for such a stressful crazy night for the whole Seattle Area. On and off the field. eek

The Cowboys future stadium will feature:

*A GLASS exterior with tinted blue and silver lights encased
*A 60 yd scoreboard that will run between the 20 yd lines
*Field Level luxury boxes...the players will actually have to fun
THROUGH your box to enter the field...How much do you think those
will run?
*Keeping their iconic Hole-in-the-roof, but making it retractable and
adding retractable doors on each end, giving it an open air feel.
*80,000 capacity with an additional 20,000 if needed.
*All of this will cost, are you ready, $1 Billion. $325 Million was
approved by Texas voters, I guess the rest will have to be privately funded.
Unreal!

No wonder they are America's favorite team! woot!

Holmgren, Seahawks in the dark

December 16th, 2006 01:00 AM

KIRKLAND – Seattle Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren had trouble looking at his team one day after a 24-14 home loss to the San Francisco 49ers. The power was out.

Generators helped coaches get through their usual business, but team headquarters in Kirkland remained mostly dark as crews worked overtime to restore power to a storm-ravaged region.

If that wasn’t enough symbolism for the struggling Seahawks, consider this: An armrest broke as Holmgren settled into the chair where he conducts day-after-game news conferences.

The sequence brought laughter from Holmgren and the assembled media. There wasn’t much levity from that point forward, however. The Seahawks are struggling on offense, putting pressure on a defense that tends to wear down when sent back onto the field too frequently.

“There is still a lot of fight left on the football team,” Holmgren said. “We are 8-6. We still can win the division. We are all kind of frustrated and angry to a certain extent, players and coaches, on how we’ve been performing.

“We’re going to keep working hard to reach our first goal, which is the playoffs. It’s still within our reach.”

The Seahawks’ quest for a third consecutive NFC West title has turned into an agonizing pursuit. One more Seattle victory or a 49ers loss would send the Seahawks to the playoffs.

Not that Seattle appears particularly worthy after losing to the Arizona Cardinals and 49ers in a five-day period.

Seeking answers, Holmgren summoned his offensive staff for a meeting Friday.

“I compared last year by position with this year by position and I wanted the coaches to kind of talk about what’s going on, what’s happening, where the difference is, why,” Holmgren said.

Holmgren wanted to know why the running game has stalled. The passing game has suffered from a dropoff in decision-making, he concluded. A lack of continuity might be the biggest factor.

“We’re getting some guys back, but they haven’t been playing,” Holmgren said. “They are playing for the first time in six weeks, eight weeks, four weeks, whatever it is.

“We are getting healthier, but when we get a couple guys, we lose a couple guys and with all that, it’s led to an inconsistent play.”

It’s too late in the season to make significant personnel changes, he said. Besides, injuries have largely dictated who plays.

“We are going to do things the way we believe they have to be done, then hopefully hit it,” Holmgren said. “Hit it at the right time.”

Receiver Darrell Jackson (toe) and center Robbie Tobeck (hip) will not play Dec. 24 against San Diego, Holmgren said. Other injured players are expected to be ready for that game. … The 49ers finished with big numbers on the ground, but Holmgren was largely satisfied with how his defense played. The 49ers scored only three points through three quarters, converting one of their first 11 third-down chances. “I thought the defense was prepared well by the staff, I think they played a good football game and then at the end, I think they were on the field too long,” Holmgren said. “They just had to play too hard, too long.” … Jordan Babineaux and Michael Boulware will continue to share time at strong safety, Holmgren said. ... Players and coaches are off today and Sunday. The team resumes its normal schedule Monday.

We're still in it. woot! Two games too go.

We need to get it together.
