Acupuncture

Thoughts and stories please!

I have never had this done but Im going to, as theres nothing else to try and it seems to have a pretty good success rate. My problem is my joints, I'm very very stiff, my hips and back ache constantly when it's cold, and in my knees there's basically not enough strong tissue to hold the joint together, and it constantly cracks in and out of the socket. Sounds awful I know lol But its not that bad.

So anyway, I'm going to have acupuncture because Im sick of aching neutral Im not worried about it persay, but want opinions anyway!

I have had it before several times. It really can make a difference. The actual sticking in of the needles does not realy hurt, it is the twiddling of them. Even that does not REALLY hurt. Is more uncomfortable then a pain. It can also be very relaxing.

confused I ahdn't thought about it hurting. Well it's worth it anyway, it can't be any worse than not being able to walk by the time Im 40!

It made a difference to me. I wish I could afford to have it again. I am not too sure if it sorts a problem or not but I think it can ease it whilst being used.

eek Is it really expensive? My Mum seems to think it will ba about £25 a go, and I might not need many....

She has a problem with her shoulder, she has a tiny little extra rib by her collarbone that hurts her cause it doesnt fit in with the rest of her. She had it about 15 years ago and it "cured" her ever since, it's only now she feels the need for it again. Hopefully I will be the same!

i did it once. there's an acupuncture school right across from my apartment and i figured i'd give it a go. i have to be honest, i didn't care for it a whole lot. i am glad i had the experience, and it wasn't terribly painful or anything, but i don't feel like it did anything for me one way or another.

the staff was really nice, and in fact they were able to tell me about past health problems i'd had just by feeling around on my arms (THAT was odd), but when i left i didn't feel any different than when i walked in, other than my wallet being a little lighter.

i've gotten more out of yoga, which i should get back to doing someday soon.

Interesting. Although by the sounds of it you didnt really have any big problem you were looking to get cured, like me, so maybe I will have more luck...?

I am going to start yoga and hopefully pilates too, theres no excuse for not doing it, I mean my body is a joke. Im 22 and Im worse than the Tin Man rolleyes I've had enough!

Yeah Im definitely going to start yoga. The only reason I havent before is laziness and time! But I know it would help, Im just nervous about it because Im *soooo* inflexible. But I guess you gotta start at the beginning huh?

It's still seen as witchcraft around these parts. I'm not convinced. Then again, I'm not convinced I'm actually typing this so don't listen to me. Still, upon transcendial mediation, I saw my chakras were clear as a Scientologist with pancreatic cancer.

Tai Chi would complement accupuncture better. Its part of the trinity of Chi. lol

Is your backache due to an accident or just overall soreness?



A few things that may help:

1) the right shoes
2) excercise and doing alot of sit-ups (a strong stomach reinforces the lower back and helps prevent backaches)
3) not stealing other orgers thread ideas.

Is your backache due to an accident or just overall soreness?



A few things that may help:

1) the right shoes

giggle Ignoring the cheekiness....

Backache is due to bad joints and posture, but not so much posture in that I don't sit up straight, more to do with growing funny. The base of my back curves in more than it should, and if I stand up too long or don't watch how I sit it aches. As for the suggestions, Im on them! nod

Also had physio years ago but didnt really help. The rest is just dodgy joints, always been that way.

I have that too, one leg is an inch longer than the other because my back is off center. I didn't know I had scoliosis till I was grown., and they had yearly screenings at school too. sad . I went to physical therapy for a while and they evened everything out. It didn't last once I was just exercizing at home though. Now I walk a lot and do yoga every day. It makes a real difference. Also my Dr said to wear Nikes for walking and that also helped a lot. They're very light weight but have the right support for my feet.

I think accupuncture is worth a try. They use it on animals and it works so I don't see why it wouldn't work on people.

Yoga is wonderful nod In a few months I'm going to add Pilates to the mix and I'll have access to an indoor pool so there's going to be that too. Swimming is really good for your joints. That is as long as the water isn't too cold.
