I usually have to push through and make myself talk to people

I'm more a watcher / listener

Talking with people is not on the top of my list of fun things to do lol

I think I probably talk too much. I am aware of that and therefore have learnt to ask people open questions and try to remember certain bits of info I can then ask them about when we meet up again (my memory is pretty bad it seems).

I do consider myself a good story teller though and can occasionally change small facts to make them funny - luckily my wife doesn't mention this when I am on a roll, now she can seriously talk and her stories can go on and on and on with no funny punchline - so I give her feedback or make "get on with it" motions with my hands.

I wonder if the majority of the regular "posters" on the org are actually the quiet ones in real life?

Probably too much. I'm a good listener too though, so I hope that balances things reasonably well. shrug

Actually, I probably do too.

Because I don't really know if I talk too much. And I think it's pretty safe to say that if you don't know, you probably do. giggle

I'm too much the 'observer' personality type; I talk very litte. Not enough. People who are close to me though - they'll say I talk plenty. But when it comes to small talk with acquaintances, I am completely inept and hardly try anymore. And this makes me seem aloof.

i have a friend who talked so little when he was younger that he damaged his vocal cords and had to have speech therapy. even now, as an adult, he can't talk louder than a whisper. so when he chimes in on a conversation, the room always goes quiet so we can all hear him. good talent to have, i suppose. lol

I had selective mutism as a kid neutral and I can't talk very loud at all

selective mutism isn't when you don't talk at all though, it's when you only don't talk in certain situations. I apparently never said a single word in my 2 years whilst at montessori, yet chattered away happily everywhere else.

No not at all. I only speak to my wife and a few others. shhh

I try not to be rude. But I am not always listening either. Some people will tell me about news, TV show, recipes, events. And I just can't vibe it. I have to tell them. That sounds cool and all. But I'm thinkin about something else. I never am rude. I just can't hear all the static that the world creates at times. I love my wife. But sometimes I got to tell her. Hold on a sec. Just slow down. Chill. I'm gettin ill. Damn. I need a study library, like Mr Brady. But ya know they always wanna talk about Rachel Ray. anyway. eek

Depends on the situation.

Fr'instance,
I don't usually say anything whilst in the middle of getting a blowjob.
Unless, of course, if she tries to start up a conversation.
Then I might say something like,
"Damn bitch!
You see what you did?
You made me have to interrupt a beautiful moment between us by having to slap your ass, just cuz you tried to talk wit' your mouth full.
You better get something thru to that little cock-filled head of yours; you ain't in the country any more.
This is the city, now.
And here, there are certain rules of ediquette that we all have to abide by."

But, in most situations,
I don't usually say much.
