I would not call what I believe in an afterlife. I believe that it was the Creator's purpose that man enjoy life unending. I believe that the Creator's purpose will be realized. That is why there exists this word in our vocabulary: Resurrection I believe that there will be a resurrecion of the dead to a happy life in a paradise right here on earth. So for those who have lost loved ones in death, the bible holds out a beautiful hope. "And God will wipe out all tears from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will sorrow, nor pain nor outcry be anymore." The bible does not teach that the soul continues to live at death, nor that souls will be tormented in a firey hell. As a matter of fact the bible says that death and hell (hell or Hades simply being the grave) will be thrown into the Lake of Fire...Then the bible goes on to say that "this is the second death"...the Lake of Fire. In other words, the lake of fire is a deeper death from which there is no restoration. Anyone who has lost a loved one in death can take comfort in knowing that the person is sleeping or resting now, with the prospect of living again. Jesus said "do not marvel at this...the hour is coming when all those in the memorial tombs will hear his name and come out..." This is what I believe. _ Me 2 Me 3

I had an 2 important, close personal experiences with life and dead after or and before.
The first, I was about 21 years old. I was making a desentosication by myself comming down from too much cocs consum. I was praying on my knees to my LORD, Jesus Christ and out to the darkness. I was in trance, and got the impulse, I have to write. Began and don't know what I realy was writing, it cames from alone, I wrote from the moment, eye was at an other place, other dimension. There was no light, but it wasn't dark..., not cold or warm. A short second, if it was, I felt as in a tornado in flying out from there, and wanting to come here to this world and this time, I wanted to make it! Make it better then the last time, I was here, had never felt sensations. Then, I lloked for the addecuate place to come back..., mother, father, family and around had to been top pointed. Felt leeding there where my mother and my did, did met the first time, at the workplace of my mom, a lokal radio station. - I think the radiowaves, went important, music! More I wont tell, I can't go in detail, it becomes too long and would be off topic maybe.

I can't understand not wanting an afterlife in the slightest. As long as it's a good one, why not? I can see not knowing if one exists, needing proof, waiting til you get there, etc. But I'm hoping things only get better with time. I hope you're in my afterlife Aaron, whether you want to be there or not.

a more important question we should all be asking was presented by one of the great elders of modern thinking.

First let me say, slm4m I'm so sorry for your loss. Secondly, yes I believe in an afterlife. I do not believe that we will have the same consciousness that we have now, but that what we experience at that time is more of a knowing, a feeling, a sensuousness if you will. Sensuality is something that you experience, but you can't put it into words. I do not believe that we will be aware of others because we will be the all of it. Energy when released doesn't die, but rather it spreads out and continues on. We are energy. Since energy cannot die, neither can we. We just change form.
Can I tell you what the afterlife is like? No one can. There are things that go beyond what the human language can explain or describe. That's sort of why Prince's music touches so many, the music reaches out and carresses the soul, but it's the music that can't be put into words. Something to blow your mind: Everything is made up of the same energy, so that in essence, even though we are aware of things being separate, we are actually one ball of energy moving at varying rates. We are one. A good movie that describes this is Powder. (Watched it the other day and was amazed once again by the depth of what it contained.) Again slm4m I am sorry for your loss. But keep in mind that no matter whether you believe in an afterlife or not, your friend lives on through you and your memories. God bless you and your friend's family.
