Is there a doctor in the house? I haven't been sleeping lately, I'm compulsively clenching my jaw and I've been sitting up in bed so much that I have a mild burning sensation in the back of my head from what I can only think is the onset of traction alopecia.
Do you think the jaw/scalp sensitivity's a result of the lack of sleep?

Dr. cubic61052 says:
TMJ Syndrome Temporomandibular joint syndrome (TMJ) is a painful condition involving the joint that opens and closes the mouth. The temporomandibular joints are the small joints in front of each ear that attach the lower jaw (mandible) to the skull. The disorder may affect the jaw joint or the muscles surrounding it. Symptoms include: *Pain in the temporomandibular joint, jaw, or face *Pain may be worse with chewing, yawning, or opening the mouth *Clicking, popping, or grating sounds with movement of the jaw *A sensation of the jaw “catching” or “locking” briefly, while attempting to open or close the mouth, or while chewing *Difficulty opening the mouth completely *A bite that feels "off," uncomfortable, or as though it is frequently changing *Swelling in the affected side of the face or mouth *Painful muscle spasm in the area of the temporomandibular joint *Insomnia *Headache *Earache *Neck, back, and/or shoulder pain Usually caused by stress!!! I haven't had one good night of sleep this week--since friday. I fall asleep ad wake up an hour later to toss & turn
incidentally, I also have TMJ, but for me I don't think they're related. For you I could definitely see stress causing lack of sleep and both causing jaw grinding. Or maybe you have the flu. My Legacy

Do you think the jaw/scalp sensitivity's a result of the lack of sleep? It's anxiety. You're stressed. Let it go. Post it on Prince.Org. Don't swallow it, because it can make you sicker. News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so. You have those internalized issues because you want to, you like to, stop.

I occasionally take 1/2 of a Benadryl. Knocks me out. I take it early, like 7 pm, or else I'm still sleepy in the morning. This is when I have to get a good night's sleep. I do this at most twice a year. [Edited 12/14/06 19:44pm]
