I'd say it's listening to your inner voice, not reason or logic, and acting on instinct.

Would you say those experiences are compared with what we currently experience and those judgements and decisions made subconciously... thus providing the "Gut Instinct" and Intuition?

this seems an appropriate topic to bring this up..... I am very open to my intuition and I have learned to listen and pay attention. People will explain all of this stuff away but I don't believe in coincidence or chance.

Let me give you a few examples:

  • It was a weekend and I was sleeping in. I called my best friend to see what she was up to for the day and she sounded kinda strange when I called and she said I did something I never thought I'd do again. I ask her what she was talking about and she said that she didn't have time to get into it and that she would call me the next day for lunch.

So it's the next day and I kinda forgot about that phone call. She and I and 2 other friends took a trip up to the mountains with a homemade chicken stew and white rice. On the way we stop into McDonalds to use the restroom and they had this yogurt and fruit thing which I would never eat. Berries and most friuts upset my stomach. Well my friend commented on how good it looked and then I said I would never eat that desert. Yuck! barf But I did have the strangest dream the other night. My friend asked what the dream was about. I told her it was one of those vivid dreams and that I usually don't taste things in my dreams but in this dream I was foraging around for something to eat and when I opened up the fridge the only thing in it was blueberries and cream and that even though I would never eat it in real life, in the dream they were delicious and she said eek When did you have this dream?! I said Not last night but the night before.

She was like eek eek eek and then she told me about what she was talking about when I had called and she said she did something she never thought she'd do again and that was to take LSD. Someone put some in her beer when she wasn't looking and during her trip she had gotten hungry and went looking in our friends fridge and that he had blue berries and cream and she had eaten it. I had gotten home around 3: am the night I had this dream and woke up at 11:00 and her eating the blueberries and cream at our friends happened within that window. What are the odds that I would dream about something I detest and then taste it it in the dream and not only that but the dream was based on something that was really happening on or around the time I was dreaming it?

  • Once in LA by myself I was waiting for a beer and a guy started chatting with me and found out I was there alone and invited me over to hang with some of his friends. They were airline stewards/stewardesses from England on a layover. So we are in a group conversation and I can hear everything that is being said. We were talking for less than 10 minutes when I had deja vu.....but in such a hard way that it actuall made me dizzy. So as I was watching this deja vu unfold, I had a literal vision of the loch ness monster. The vision was so strong that it was literally the only thing I could see. I lost all vision of the scene around me.

All of a sudden I feel a hand on my arm and I am jolted out of the vision and the guy who invited me over asked if I was OK. I said that I was and that I was having deja vu. He asked again if I was OK, saying I didn't look right and I told him not to worry, it was just the deja vu and then I told him...I usually don't tell people the details because they always think I'm crazy (and normally I wouldn't even share) but I along with the deja vu I also had a vision of the loch ness monster. Now I know.... I was going to complete that sentence as "Now I know that makes no sense whatsoever" and before I could finish the sentence one of his friends started yelling "oh my god! He was on a tour of the loch ness lake just last weekend eek Now what are the odds that I would have a random vision of the lockness and this guy just was there the weekend before?

  • I was looking for an aparment some years back and during my search I stopped to get lunch at one of my favorite restaurants. While waiting for my order I went next door to the coffee shop to see if they had anything to read. I don't drink coffee so normally I would have no reason to enter one. Well I walked in and they had a bulletin board and on it was a blank business card and it said "1 Bdr. Tlph. 555-5555". That is all the information there was. Normally I would laugh at something like that but I had a feeling about it. So I took it off the bulletin board so nobody else could have the number.

Well, in the 2 years that I lived on that city, every once in a while I would stumble on this neighborhood while I was taking shortcuts on the way home. And I would become mesmerized while driving through that I would always forget to remember where that neighborhood was. And I went looking for it but could never find it. But I loved that neighborhood and just wished I could live there.

So back to the coffee shop.... So I'm sitting there reading a magazine and waiting for my lunch and this guy walks in and says
Do you want your tarot cards read?

I don't have any money. I'm not interested.

I'm learning how to read cards and will do them for free!

    You'll do them for free?

    Yes.

    OK.

    What's your name?

    Richard.

Shuffle this deck and cut the cards into three stacks.

That was the extent of our conversation. So I shuffle and divide into 3 stacks. The first card is flipped over and it is a man laying on the ground with a bunch of swords sticking out of him. I looked at that card and told him that I would reject and rebuke a negative reading. He said that the card wasn't really a bad card, that it represented change.

He flips over the next card and it was the Queen of cups. Ah! That is a great card in connection to the first card. The first card represents change and the queen of cups represents fortune. He flips over the 3rd card and it was a bunch of sticks. He stared at that card intently and then said I'm sensing water. It's very strong. Are you a Pisces?"

eek Yes, yes I am eek

He flips over the next card and does his analysis and then asks me to pick another deck. The first 3 cards from that second deck were the same first 3 cards from the first deck and were in the SAME ORDER!.

Later that night I called to make an appointment to look at the apartment from the little business card I got from the coffee shop. 3 days later I'm on my way to my appointment and I slowed my car down.....No way! Don't even tell me THIS is the neighborhood!!. It was that neighborhood I stumbled across those few times and wanted so badly to live in. I got to the address and the apartment was right in that neighborhood. I ended up living there for 2 years biggrin

  • I recently went to Bingo. While there I saw a woman I used to see at other Bingo's and hadn't seen her in something like 6 months or so. She's a very unusual character. Quite noticeable and unforgettable. She used to have a little squeaky cat that she would squeeze whenever they called "O-69" and whenever I heard the squeak I would say "Squeekers" lol

So she comes up to me and following her is a guy I know from a Bingo place I play on Saturdays and he says watch this. So she shuffles a deck of cards, says for me to pick a card and then spreads them out with her fingers. As she was spreading the cards, I focused on one card and kept that focus even while she was spreading the cards out. So I pick the card, which was the King of Clubs, she puts it on the top of the deck and then shuffles the cards again.

She then takes a styrofoam cup and places the deck leaning on the cup and then waves her hands and a card comes popping up. Sure enough, it was the king of clubs. When she left to do the trick on somene else, the guy who came with her said that he picked the King of Clubs too and so that must be part of the trick. Well, I watched her perform the trick on other people and nobody else picked the King of Clubs. After I saw the other tricks that didn't include the King of Clubs, I told the guy it couldn't have anything to do with it because others picked different cards than the king of clubs. Now what are the odds that I would pick the same exact card as this guy.?

So I leave to catch the bus home and this woman pulls up and offers me a ride. So I get in and we start chatting about the trick. I didn't ask her how it was done but I figured it probably had to do with the static electricity left on the card from my holding it and the fact that styrofoam attracts static electricity like crazy. But then she did the trick on others and used other objects that I definitely wouldn't associate with static electricity so maybe that isn't it. Who knows. So we were talking about the trick and I told her that I pulled the same card as the guy who came with her and that he thought that was part of the trick but no, that I only picked the same card he did.

She says do you do psychic readings. I said Oh no, I have never had a reading before. I have had my tarot cards read once but I've never had a psychic reading.. She said No. Do you DO them. You can you know. nod

    eek

She is a psychic herself and gave me her card.

  • Several times at Bingo I have known who has the winning tickets, and bought them. I sit in the backroom at this one place I play and I went into the main room to exchange some tickets and there were 4 volunteers selling special games and as soon as I saw one in particular, I just knew he had the winning ticket. Instead of panicking and running to him right away, I just waited for him to service the rest of the table and when he came around the table to go to the next one, I bought $20.00 from him and when I opened them up, the 4th one was an instant winner of $250! biggrin A couple times I have had that same type of feeling and one volunteer standing out more than the other and one time I traded one ticket for an instant winner of $250 and another buying $5 and winning $250. Unfortunately I haven't managed to have those feelings with the lottery pout lol

More and more in my life, this thing is seeking me out and I have learned to listen to my intuition and to be open to it. nod

My opinion is intuition is being paranoïd on a great scale : your mind evaluates ALL possible futures according to the elements of a situation it deals with, then "chooses" the most logical. It's a logic of the brain that is usually different than common sense logic, but we must remember that the brain catches much more informations than we are aware of. c ?

To freaky to be chance that's for sure. I know that feeling and when I have it I know to listen and time and time again when I don't listen to it it is obvious why I should have.

You have an extraordinary attention span and are obviously energised by your own creativity while writing. I used to put similar effort into posts, but it hit me like a hammer one day that people either thought I was more talented than I am or I enraged them by showing off my feathers and obvious flair for language and juxtaposition. Richard, you eminate vibrancy and would bounce off planets like a pinball if you weren't imprisoned by flesh.

I had a life-changing dream about two months ago. I'd been waiting for it, I suppose. Something, anything. I dreamt of a flesh planet, veins for mountain ranges, pulsating somewhere in our universe. Its purpose was to vibrate resonance through all flesh creatures. It was real, it was beyond doctrane, language, our blink existence, love. I watched it for hours in my head. No fragmented storyline, just this...thing. It was real.
I woke up. Sorry, bounced up. I've not felt right since. I feel like I might explode. Wooo.

So what I'm saying is, I believe ye.

I had intution with my last gf. The week she told me she had feelings for another guy, I felt the worst heartache thinking about her. I just knew that was the week that nothing was going to turn out right. She gave zero signals to alarm me, but I just knew, and I was not wrong in the end.
The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

"You still wanna take me to prison...just because I won't trade humanity for patriotism."

But how can you know when you have no way of knowing....what constitutes intuition?

Like being able to predict the outcome of something (or think you can) without having all the facts, and I think it stems from past experience and something else, knowledge or awarenss of yourself, a thought process that isnt based on reason or logic.

I think the sum of the responses starts to get at the question of Intuition.... Thank You All for them mr.green

...Now to look at it a little differently....

... Do you think their are differences in intuition between male and female?

....Also do you believe Culture has an influence over intuition?

Surely everything's based in intuition? What does the dictionary say? I love those clever cunts at Collins.

Well apparently there's such a thing as "female intuition," it implies that women are generally more perceptive and can tune into people/surroundings on deeper level than men. Im not so sure, I think it depends more on the person than the sex. Are woemn more sensitive in certain situations? Maybe, but is that because women have an intuition for sensing danger or are we just raised to be aware of our vulnerability in some situations? I dont know.
