I've had it since Friday, and couldn't get to the doctor till Monday. Now I'm on antibiotics, which normally knock out the symptoms in like a day or two, only this time around it feels like they're not working. I'm just as miserable.

I'm sleepy all day, especially if I try to stand up or sit up. But if I lay down, I'm so uncomfortable I can't actually sleep.

Had to reschedule two interviews, postpone two meetings for web projects, been off work all week, and I swear they all think I'm lying and just blowing them off, they don't believe me.

Only good thing from all of this is I swear I've lost at least 10 lbs already or something, LOL. I've hardly been able to eat a thing, and all I can drink is water.

It's so evil. I had it one time and that is seriously one of the worst pains I ever experienced. Swallowing literally feels like red hot razor blades soaked in battery acid

i had that in college. it got to the point where friends had to come over and help feed me or else i'd just sleep through an entire day. when i was actually awake, everything was surreal. but you're right - when i was better, i was a skinny bitch!

strep throat blows

you've probably already heard/know this, but lots of lemon tea with honey is your best friend it's the only thing i can have when i get strep.

also, if you have bad fevers, i swear by those frozen eye masks with the blue gel. i don't know if they help reduce fever, but they feel freakin' heavenly when your forehead is on fire.

As far as your coworkers go, get a doctor's excuse noting why you were sick, and show it to them. That will shut them up.

Gargle with warm salt water. Soothes the throat. Good thing you're taking antibiotics. Left untreated it can become systemic and affect the heart muscle. (a friend had this problem)

No lie, coming down with strep throat was one of the best things to ever happen to me. I'd quit smoking using nicorette gum, and wound up getting more addicted to the gum than I'd ever been to smoking. If I hadn't come down with strep throat two years ago and consequently been unable to swallow anything for two days I'd probably still be chewing that crap.

Of course it was a miserable experience at the time.

I've had strep throat myself, and it's no fun.
