For overseas flights, there's usually a movie. Then there's adjustment to jet lag. If you have a layover, be sure to adjust your watch to regional time....I almost missed a connecting flight in Germany.
One of the funniest scenes I witnessed in an airport was in France, waiting for a flight, and some woman who had her dog on a leash, let the pooch poop in the middle of a busy walkway. In a few minutes, the poop was all over the place with people rolling their luggage over it. I don't know if dogs are still allowed in French airports?? Used to be.

I used to be terrified of flying. I'm a lot better now. For some reason I feel safer when I fly at night.

Absolutely love it! I have caught some of the most beautiful sunsets while up in the air... an angle that is impossible to capture while grounded.
I love how you see so much beauty to the finest details that truly are there, if we wish to see. The sections of land... it is almost fake looking, yet amazing how in the mist of chaos, there actually is a very detailed plan. How could we know this when living within it, at times. One must respect the fine details from afar... it is hard when you live and see so much disaster, pollution and lack of respect from people (living among such beautiful planning) Yet... at a distance, it seems nearly perfect of a plan (overall)... even for a brief moment ~Smile. Night flying brings a sense of coziness... I remember flying to London... at night, it felt like one big ol' smorgasbord of people sleeping. Then walla, you have arrive on the other side of the world. ~Smile.

emm said: anyone been on a helicopter?? helicopters are my favourite. You feel very different in one than you do on a plane. On a plane, you feel the power of the engines when you take off but don't really have a sense of it after that. A helicopter, to me, feels like you have a giant hand above you which is lifting you up. All the power is above you. It's exhilarating.

I remember flying over eastern Russia late in the evening while the cabin lights were off. It's just unbelievable how vast and deserted the landscape is! Mile after mile of incredible mountanous formations, rivers, plains, with not a single road in sight. I felt completely and utterly at peace.

In Hawaii. I liked it but it was a bit freaky since it felt like a big hand was holding us in the air, plus it felt weird to have to talk to the person sitting next to me using an intercom (because of the deafening noise).

applekisses said: I haven't flown since 2001 (before 9/11). More than being afraid of terrorists, I'm afraid of airport security. I've already gotten hassled by police because they thought I was middle eastern (my brother gets that too).
What is the security like now? When your journey has anything to do with paranoid America, it's awful. Besides that, it's fine.

Afternoon time... (flying over the Rockies just a couple of months ago)... I marvel at the endless land... and the horizon (the curving of our Earth). Easy to visualize the big picture, it is for me. The sights while flying are many...

I don't enjoy flying anymore cause I have to do it so much for business.
You get treated like Catle. You hurry up to wait. The plane is always too dry and you end up dydrated and with a headache. lawd, the list goes on and on. Flying sucks ass. That's not to say I don't still get excited and look out the window, but if it weren't for my iPod, I'd loose my damned mind on plane rides now.

Luckily I have only had to travel a few times for work. It would get old if you had to do it for work and not pleasure.

I find conversations with other passengers comes much easier when I'm traveling for fun. For business, I'm usually chagrined and just not in the mood. Though I agree with Emm, there is something magically delicious about looking out at a sea of lights as your plane decends on your destination city. Of course, I can't imagine Canada having more than a couple dozen lights in any given town.
