I think I'm going to the emergency room today OK folks, before anyone tells me that I'm stupid, I already know....
I've been dealing with a constant pain in my lower left abdomen for almost three years. It sort of wraps around my hip and into my lower back. I figured that it had something to do with a disc in my back, so I didn't do anything about it. Well, I got about two hours of sleep lastnight because this pain has now spread upwards into my upper abdomen and through to my back. I'm actually worried that I've let it go too long, and that maybe it's something bad. It feels like one half of my body is all screwed up and horribly painful, and the other half is pain free. Anyone else have anything similar to this? Heeeeelp!!!!!

wow....got get it looked at, pronto!
I don't know anything about medical stuff but your symptoms remind me of my brother in-laws descriptions of his pain....they eventually diagnosted him with crones (sp?) it's an intestinal problem...sometimes releated to wheat products but most times unreleated to anything specific....basically like a sore on the wall of your intestines that is irritated every time something passes through. it can range from moderate to sever in the pain category. good luck! "not a fan" yeah...ok

There are a number of possibilities for such pain, from the aforementioned bowel condition, to hernias to kidney stones to cysts on the ovaries.
You need to see a physician and have this pain evaluated. I hope you will soon feel better.

i hate the emergency room. They take you in and set you in a room and you wait like 4 hours before anyone sees you.
maybe an immediate care place would be better, but I never know where any of them are. ..

OK....well, three hours later. I've gotta say that Stanford Medical Center is the nicest hospital I've ever been to. The emergency room has fucking valet parking.
I forgot to mention that lately I've been getting sharp pains in my head and right behind my left eye, everything on the left side of my body hurts. It causes the left side of my face to become numb. So they thought that was a little worrisome. I got my first CAT scan ever. I hated it, it smelled like death in that room, and the machine itself is a little intimidating. Results came back normal. They are thinking that there is some sort of nerve damage, or I could have MS. I have to go back tomorrow to see my primary physician, and to schedule an MRI. I am thinking that, since back problems run rampant in my family (my Dad has had six operations on his back), that I've just screwed it up over time with heavy lifting at that piece of shit grocery store I used to slave for. At least I'm not having a stroke!

I hope you figure out what's going on and get better How else are we going to be able to do acrobatics during the Pacifica invasion!? 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

I usually wait so long to see a doctor because, I know this is going to sound arrogant, well, because it seems like I already know what the problem is, or that I know more than the damn doctor. And whenever you go, they toss you around like a ping pong ball. Here, go there, now go here, now go see this other doctor. Oh! We don't know exactly what's wrong with you. Let's do some more tests! Ummm. I came in for severe pain in my ABDOMEN. Remember that? I think the triage lady wrote that down somewhere. DUH????? Now I'm walking out still in pain. Hey thanks, and I'll be sure to bend over so you can shove that $3000 bill up my bum. And no, I'm not a drug addict, I just want the pain to stop. We'll see what happens tomorrow.

You probably already know this, but PLEASE do not stop at the ER.
In many cases they are there to patch you up, make sure you don't die etc. You have had symptoms for a long time, they made a good start of it with the CT, but PLEASE follow up with a doctor that will take the time to do more than give you some pain meds and send you home. Hope you feel better soon I'm firmly planted in denial

Well, I feel like a million bucks at the moment.
The doctor gave me Vicodins (I only take half a pill twice a day) and I'm not in pain anymore!!!!! Do you have any idea how long it's been since I've been totally pain free?!!!!! So, they are thinking it's a very bad hernia that's starting to strangulate my intestines. Neat, huh? Going to the surgeon next week.
