I'm an art junkie...I love it...I could post dozens of my favorites...but I'll try to contain myself.
My favorite painting evah: Mark Tansey's Innocent Eye Test (at the Met) Bruce Naumann Self-Portrait as a Fountain Marcel Duchamp's Boite-en-Valise (aka his greatest hits ) An page from a Basholi manuscript of the Gitagovinda Photography by Malik Sidibe A film still from William Kentridge's Felix in Exile Ruby Osario's Perfect Girl Pedestal The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

As photos go, this one of John Coltrane -- the starkness, the color palette, the shadow and light, the implicit spirituality -- has been one of my favorites ever since I first saw it. Forget the horrid lettering.

"waterfall" is what I gleaned (and retained) from reading the little plaque. I don't know anything about art history...I remember walking around the museum with a friend of mine, and you know how this piece is kinda around a dark corner? We thought it was a dead end and were about to walk away when someone else walked past us and looked through the door and we were like, "Huh?" Glad we figured that one out...we eventually decided it was our favorite.

The official title is: Etant Donnes: 1. la chute d'eau/2.le gaz d'eclairage and there is a little waterfall in the background, so you are right, too. He worked on this piece in secret and left hardly any notes about it... The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting.
