For Those Of You Who Buy A Cut Christmas Tree To Decorate During The Holidays...

Which type of tree do you usually buy? There are many to pick from: Blue Spruce, Norway Spruce, Serbian Spruce, White Spruce, Douglas Fir, Balsam Fir, Concolor Fir, Canaan Fir, Fraser Fir, Scotch Pine, Red Pine, White Pine, and Austrian (Black) Pine. I have to admit that some of the trees that I just listed I have not even seen for myself, there are just too darn many. giggle

I always buy a Fraser Fir, because they're shaped really beautifully, hold up really well (and can easily have a heavy ornanament hung onto a branch without slipping off). Also, they have a really pretty citruisy scent to them that just makes the whole house smell so pretty.

A picture of a Fraser Fir:

Which tree do you like to get for your holidays?

I have a fake tree. It's convenient because I can put it away and store it for next Christmas.

Fraser firs are my favorite:

They have a kinda blu-ish tint on the underside of the needles and they're soft and very sturdy for hanging stuff.

My family is in the Xmas tree biz (my grandfather, then my uncle took over, I think one of my cousins will probably take it over soon too), and Frasier Firs are the top of the line. They are the most expensive per foot that my family sold, anyway. My parents always have one every year.
They don't lose needles easily and smell absolutely divine. mushy

Never knew that your family was in the Christmas tree business, that's pretty awesome. Fraser firs are definitely top of the line, and they are great, I agree with you on that. biggrin

I only purchase the trees after the holidays as I can not stand seeing them disposed of in skips mad Last year I purchased 5 sadly 2 did not root but the other three have grown lovely smile

Now the nagging part.whistling
If ur gonna purchase tree’s then only purchase rooted ones then afterwards re-plant them somewhere.

Xmas trees to me are like flowers. They're grown on farms for a specific decorative purpose. It's not like trees that are taken down aren't replaced.

Oh, it's not that for me. I have no remorse for trees, animals, little children, or the elderly.

It's just that..well think about it.. A dead tree with blinking lights in your living room?? WEIRDOS!

omg katt's a tree hugger. giggle

That's a great idea to buy a Christmas tree that you can plant after the holiday season is over (my uncle used to do that). BUT, it's not feasible if you live in an apartment building like I do, and the property that your building is on is not your own. If I DID have my own house and my own property, I probably would plant my Christmas tree after the holidays are over just so that I could keep enjoying it.
