Stuff that weirds you out. Tuesday I went into work, still a bit sick, and asked to be traded off food to a demo in which I didn't have to serve the public fattening delights and talk about what a great value they are. I ended up getting a spot-shot carpet cleaner which left me plenty of time to pull out The Stand and start reading from my cart, and... think of shit and get all weirded out.
1.) Gamma-ray bursts. I didn't know much about them until Alex started mentioning how he couldn't sleep one night because he kept thinking about how a gamma ray burst could hit us and lead to mass extinction. There's not shit you can do about it, you'll never know it's coming.... 2.) Death in general. I am painfully aware I am mortal, considering people started dying off in my immediate family when I was just 11. It fucks me up to think about the fact I won't be here one day. 3.) The fact Alex is older and a man and statistically will die first. My dad's in his mid-50s and in poor health, and my brother is 12 years older than me. I don't want to be old and alone. 4.) I keep thinking about the eye-gouge accident I saw last basketball season where the lad from I think Villanova got his eye knocked out of his head, and it fucks my eyes up and then I get afraid to touch my face. What are some things that you think about occasionally that just fucks you up? This one's for you.

That's understandable. And people never look how they're supposed to, so far as I've seen anyway. I'm freaked out at the idea of being in a casket one day, looking so dead. I'm even more freaked out about alternative methods to dispose of my dead body. This one's for you.

The fact that we "exist" on a "planet" that's situated in infinite space. I mean, what's up with that?

There was a case back in my hometown awhile back... a funeral home scandal. The guy was taking money, before the time of death, so they'd have the burial of their dreams. Pre-paying for their funerals you know, while they could. Anyway, ol' Reid Rippetoe was pocketing the money, buying himself nice things and such. I think he's doing jailtime for awhile now. This one's for you.

I'll probably die before all of these people I'm so worried about and love so much. I hate the idea of them moving on. This one's for you.

Just the thought of getting an IV freaks me out so much that I usually have to hold my wrists or the inside of my arms until the impulse passes.

I'm worrying about this for the first time in my life. My girlfriend is 18 years older than me. She's very healthy, but I'm pretty healthy too, so statistically, I'm likely to lose her pretty young. And I'm not having kids. And my sister takes terrible care of herself. Though, I'm actually MORE terrified of the idea of dying before her, 'cause I can't think of her being in that kind of pain and dealing with it alone. So, either way = Which is why it's bugging me. oh noes, prince is gonna soo me!!1!

Ex-Moderator | People in large animal costumes, like at Disney. They creep me OUT! For serious. I mean, if I see them on tv or something, I don't think much of it, but if they walk up next to me I get sooooo weirded out. [Edited 12/1/06 3:11am] |

I think we need an orger buddy system. So's if you want to go away for a long time SOMEONE can report back they've heard from you and you're doing fine, that kind of thing. And so we all can be notified, if, ya know, the worst... |

We had an awful hot summer this year and during that she stopped coming in. I am pretty sure she passed away, poor thing.

The thought of having my testicles popped.
Of having my nails ripped off. Or my teeth twisted and pulled out - that tearing noise.

I get creeped about being old and alone too...or random cosmic occurences...or the thought of life on our planet seeming so small in our universe.
