Hi, i'm new to the org. Do I get a big welcome? Or any surprises? What can I expect from the org and the fans here? What can I expect from being a new Prince fan? I've been dabbling with his music for over a year now and i'm hooked. I'm thinking about joining the NPG Music Club. What can I expect from the club and fellow fans?

I think you can expect a diverse fan/fam base here. People seem to connect here for all different reasons, from all
over the world.

You do doubt will find people to relate to, and others
you don't understand. It is intriguing to say the least.

If you enjoy Prince's music, you should enjoy the club.

Welcome aboard AbucahX. I'm relatively new to the org as well but not to Prince's music. I think you'll get to know that people here at the org have a mixture of opinions and are pretty outspoken. I hope you enjoy your experience and continue to grow into Prince's music.
I'm interested since you have only been into him for the past year - how you became exposed to his music since he doesn't really get play on the air.

I became exposed to his music after hearing "Rave unto the Joy fantastic"...i love that album. It shocks me to see that most older Prince fans dislike this album. I know quite a few people that became fans after hearing that album. Why don't Prince release his music commercially no more? He will reach a lot of people if he would because there are a lot of young people out there rediscovering his music.

I'm glad to hear that Abucah! As far as Prince doing things commercially anymore, Prince has played the music biz game for about 25 years now, and each year he becomes more and more disatisfied with the way things are run. So he's been an independent artist since 1996 (with the occasional commercial one-off commercial release, a la Rave). While it means lack of exposure to a newer and sometimes younger audience, I think Prince is ultimately willing to make that sacrifice in order to run things himself, make the kind of music he wants to make, etc. I would urge you to join the NPGMC, if only to expose yourself to the new "exclusive" music. We've already received a great solo piano and vocal album this year that no record company would dare release. And hopefully later on, we'll be getting a jazz fusion CD. Right now, we're getting ready to get a 3 CD set of live stuff. It's a good time to be a fan- as long as you're in the know about his stuff...

By the way, I liked Rave too. But I will say it's not one of my favorites from him

welcome to the org, expect little so anything big will be as a gift. there are many view here on the org. dont get to hung up on any thing in particular. dont be afraid to join the party and have some fun, and make not to let anybody bring ya down.
i am one of those older fans who likes Rave, see there are some of us out there.

if looking for more music, check out the Freemyheart site, there is alot of info on getting cd's very cheaply and for someone who has just joined the party there is alot of great music you may want to start checking out. just Enjoy YOUR expirence.
