misconception.

Lice can ONLY live on human hair. A few hours without contact to human hair, and they die.

That's why only head-to-head contact spreads them, and hygiene makes no difference.

It's so sad I took time to look this up. sigh

yeah, that is sad. why the hell do you know so much about lice today?

Sometimes I wonder myself. shrug

Lice is common among "CLEAN" school age kids ... cuz they love to hug and stuff

I can't believe you thought it had to do with being dirty confused

wink hug

I always had product free hair to my waist. I picked it up at school twice.... I cried and cried when my mom would remove the nits. The vinager would make me woozie after a few hours. It was horrific. I was Mortified Talia would pick it up at school.... and her hair ( Also to her waist) but 3 times as thick as mine in curls would have been the end of me.

A Dr. friend told me it wasnt so likely she would ever get it because of all the gel and leave in conditioner product she put in her hair... that the nits infact liked a clean dry shaft to grab onto....

Shes 16 now so i would say I am out of the woods!

lol Just reading this has caused me to scratch my head many times! shake

Blood sucking human parasites that live only on the hair of human beings. They most likey spread through contact of head-to-head contact.

Bottom line: You can shampoo constantly and practice good hygiene..EXCELLENT hygiene will not prevent it.

I always thought it was becuase people were dirty or had bad hygiene. I never realized it has nothing to do with that.

Are there any misconceptions you had with lice or any other public nuisance?
