Personal Trainer

So I've been thinking about a personal trainer at Lucille Roberts, any ladies have any thoughts on this? Has anyone tried one out at that place? I tried going to a regular gym but the men honestly pissed me off. I walked in and one guy was asking me to turn around...politely i stuck up my middle finger and left. But...I really need to lose weight, and I'm really lazy. So I need a personal trainer to bust my ass. thoughts ideas?

do it. the insight is great and, after only a few sessions with a trainer, you can do it all on your own with the same success.

If you're not really committed to getting in shape a personal trainer is not going to make a difference.

This can be true. But they can offer the guidance you need, and scare the shit out of you into doing it...if you get the right trainer. lol

It's just too easy to not show up for your session if you're not really ready for all the hard work.

But if you are, they are amazing. I used to work out with a friend that was just like a personal trainer. He used to pick me up at my place and force me to go with him to the gym. It was awesome.

I've one thing that really works for me when after I take my breaks from the gym.

I force myself to show up, even if I only get on the treadmill and walk slowly for 5 minutes. I still force myself to show up.

Half the battle is just walking away from your computer and getting there.

Sooooo true. Once you are actually there and moving, you're fine and can go the whole way.

It can be dicey with personal trainers...I used to be one.

Some will give you the same EXACT workout slightly mixed up each time and will make up shit for you to do on the spot and you'd most likely never know the difference.

Just remember as far as WEIGHT LOSS is concerned...it's 70% EATING. Calories in.

Exercise is only 30%. If weight loss is your goal then MOST of your exercise should be cardio, preferable standing up and bearing your own weight (Treadmill, Stairmaster, walking lunges till you drop, Step Class). Running works best. And you have to be doing SOMETHING at least 5 days a week for no less than 30 minutes a shot.

Best of luck...
I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

I want to take this time to say that if your trainer is not ACSM (American Collge of Sports Medicine) certified or have a credible nationally recognized certification like ACE (American Council on Exercise) or NSCA (National Strength and Conditioning Association) PLEASE KEEP IT MOVING! They are not qualified to give you any advice or lead you through any workout! This is comming from a personal trainer.

Beware of any trainer that is offering you any advice outside of his or her scope of practice. If the trainer does not have a degree in nutrition, he/she should not be setting you up on any diets or offering you any supplements outside of what is required for a normal healthy human being.

Beware of any trainer that is leading youthrough a workout without doing a health screening or testing your fitness capabilies. If you get one who doesnt do these things, RUN!

Concerning trainer certifications, I would advise one who is seeking a personal trainer to look for an ACSM certification. This is the most rigorous training certification for personal trainers and is the gold standard in the fitness industry. If he/she has an ACSM cert. I would be more than comfortable with his/her expertise. A 2 or 4 year degree ina fitness related field is also highly advised. Please ask about credentials! A personal trainer should also be CPR/First Aid certified.

If anyone wants to know anything else, ask me.
