Should we plan it for the STANLEY HOTEL, where he wrote it or TIMEBERLINE LODGE where they used it for filming the movie. The STANLEY HOTEL looks amazing.

I'm not sure. hmmm The first "Shining" movie really did have a scary setting, and I'm not sure just where the mini-series version was filmed. hmm

I thought the interior was filmed in one hotel, and the exterior in another one. hmmm

Did you see both episodes of Ghost Hunters that they did at the Stanley Hotel? They had alot of experiences there. The one night, the guy was staying in one of the rooms, and the closet door opened up all by itself, then closed and hinged itself. Also, a glass on his nightstand shattered. They caught the door opening and closing on tape.

In another room there, as they were sitting at a table, something slammed down on the table real hard while they were taping.

YES!!! Out of most of those episodes this was THE ONE! The shattering of the glass was just too bizarre. The door opening creeped me out. The table thing would have had me piss my pants if it would've happened to me.

So yeah, let's go!!! Heehe!!

M

Yeah! nod See, there ARE hauntings people! hmph! No one believes me when I tell them about my ghost-filled house that I lived in at one time. lol

Interesting. hmmm But how could the witch MAKE that guy just stand there in the corner? Couldn't he overpower her?

The reason he couldn't overpower her is becasue she's a witch! She was performing all kinds of voodoo on those poor kids throughout the movie like making them walk in circles in the woods until they found her spooky-ass house.

It is often said that if you don't understand something...or how deep something truly is believed, you don't mess with it...and that is very true of voodoo and the like....those kids sauntered their asses in the woods with a know it all attitude and ended up getting f*&ked up....

good for 'em.... lol

Yes, exactly. I have to figure out which is which. I would love to stand in that huge hall with the enormous staircase.

I know. nod You know in the book there wasn't a hedge maze at all. There were hedge topiary animals that would move (and bite biggrin ). Also, those creepy little girls of the previous caretaker don't even exist in the book. Well, they do in passing. They're mentioned once and that's it.

Plus, Danny never rode around on his Bigwheel in the book either. And Jack doesn't use an ax to try and kill them. He uses a roque (croquet) mallet to try and beat them to death. nod And Dick Halloran doesn't get killed when he comes to save them. He gets hurt, but he lives and rescues them. nod

Oh, and the whole hotel blows up at the end because Jack forgets to dump the boiler in the basement. And he dies that way, not from freezing to death. Geez, the movie's a COMPLETELY different story like I said. lol

I was a huge Stephen King fan at the time the movie came out. I never read the book though. I should've.

Yeah! nod See, there ARE hauntings people! hmph! No one believes me when I tell them about my ghost-filled house that I lived in at one time. lol

I lived in one too.A poltergeist or something was there, very annoying it all was too. Couldn't keep that damn house clean for anything. Rooms locking themselves shut from the inside. Freezing cold spots, footsteps and things dropping upstairs when no one was there. Annoying.

Yeah, for weeks after I saw that film, the concept of some dude randomly standing in a corner was terrifying.

Great, minimalist suspense. But way too long.

Without question the last scene is the scariest, I watched it by myself in the dark and I was okay until the last scene then the whole movie came together for me, SOB!!! It freaked me out I couldn't go to sleep even with the lights on, I was up looking around thinking I saw or heard something, it was ridiculous, I'll never watch it again. no no no!

talkin bout blair witch right? I'm right with you on that one! It's the way the movie let's you figure out the horrible conclusion with just that one image of the guy standing in the corner. All of a sudden all the stories are REAL. When you actually come up with the thought, the realization, it's so intense.

Blair Witch Project was the wackest movie this side of... well... Blair Witch Project II! Great concept and awesome hype campaign, but the movie itself was not in a single instant scary... plus it didn't make sense! What fools, lost and starving in the woods, hunted by "something," and eventually with a friend who goes missing, are gonna keep a cam going?
