I got engaged on Christmas Eve in '03-- it only lasted until Nov. of '04. So... the following Christmas sucked. What a let down!!! (but hey, I'd probably be divorced by now anyway!)
I agree... being single during the holidays sucks. I think I hate the most when I start getting all the "family photo" cards from all my friends. sigh

New Years? The year my engagement ended, I went to Atlantic City. At midnight, everyone looked up, said, "Happy New Year" and continued gambling. I think the casino blinked the lights. whatever....
THIS year, I already have tix for Robert Randolph. I refuse to sit home alone and watch Dick Clark. headbang

"Love Hurts.
Your lies, they cut me.
Now your words don't mean a thing.
I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..."

I will be alone for Christmas- well...as far as a loved one. I was alone last year for Christmas as well and New Years as usual though I had a partner for the last 10 years I spent most of the holidays alone.(hunters widow..) So this year I do not have that partner anymore so I think it will be better- I will not miss him like I used to because he is no longer mine- which makes me happy. It will be strange and different but I am looking forward to it actually.

it has it's ups and downs.

but as long as your with family that eases the pain.

and as far as the gifts to each other PLEASE ASK THEM. dont buy something that
U might think they want, cause WE problay wont ever wear IT. i know I wont.
SOME PEOPLE--THOSE WHO THINK IT'S EVER THEIR PLACE TO CHANGE SOMEONE--WILL FIND NEW "FAULTS" WHEN OLD ONES GET "FIXED".

being single on New Years Eve was worse for me

Never mattered if I had someone or not...Always had a party to host. New Year's was a big holiday to make money. Was never with anyone for new years...out working and making money for the babies smile so it never really mattered. Then once 1 am hit I was in my car on the way home to sleep the new year away.

Ok...that was probably too much info.
