Single at Christmas time

I think being single at Christmas time is lonesome. Sure you have the family and all, but to me, there's nothing like being in love at Christmas. It's more exciting being in love at Christmas than at Valentine's day. But don't get me wrong, being single at Christmas also means that you don't have to waste money buying gifts for that other person, running here and there looking for something they wanted that maybe out of stock.

How do you guys feel about it? xmas
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Reincarnate

I split up with a boyfriend on Christmas morning once ... it was horrible. I felt detached. I do feel sorry for anyone who's alone at Christmas.

Yeah ,eye totally agree with the shopping part.U made me really think about this, and what christmas really means, I wonder, a good way to test how strong the "love"is would be to NOT buy someone a gift and see how they react. Instead make them something ,like a quilt or a suit. Ya know what i mean ?

yeah i get what you are saying. some people think this time around its all about what you buy them...but Christmas is so much more. I always thought that the aura of Christmas should be about being happy and around those who love you.

Ummm...I hate to sound unromantic, but the whole "there's nothing like being in love at Christmas" sentiment only really works for relationships that are still in their salad days. Example: first year Christmas as a couple--your man will get you jewelry, clothes, whatever...really go all out, y'know? Fifth year as a couple? Watch. He'll be buying you maybe three gifts that he bought at the last minute.

It depends how you feel about being single.

I've been single at Christmas before where I was upset about a previous breakup or just plain lonely, and that sucked. But now I've gotten past that and Im finally in that place people talk about, where Im pretty happy being single! I mean Im not averse to the idea but Im also fine where I am right now.

I hope you can feel the same Fee hug

Also, dont forget youre not "alone" just because you dont have a boyfriend/girlfriend - focus on the other people who love you nod

nod Co-sign, that's how I feel too. But, I can understand why being single during the holiday season can be rough for some people.

hug for missfee.

1. you save money on gifts! biggrin but you don't get as many either. sad

2. it's really difficult to start a relationship over the holidays, because there are so many obligations - family, work, friends, whatever - that it's nearly impossible to bring a new person into your world at this time of year. so think of it that way...when the new year comes, you have a whole new blank slate on which to find someone and get to know them. if you tried now, it would most likely be disastrous. though not TOTALLY impossible, i suppose!

Well, sort of.

But the worst part is, if you're seeing arts and humanities chicks they won't even let you buy gifts. It's materialistic, see.. They make you do handicrafted things for them for Christmas instead.

December 28th would have been our 5th anniversary had I not been relieved of my Husbandly duties back in October. So, instead, I will spend the time with family and friends and b thankful 4 what I still have in my life. I mean, really, what choice do I have? I definitely feel ya on the whole "Single at Christmas sucks" thing. "Love, Actually" was on TV the other night and I couldn't watch it.
