Irritating Dates.... What has irritated you the most about your date when you went out on bad dates?
For me....(this is a combination of things from various bad dates) 1. Caught a guy in a lie 2. Unsure of himself (no goals for his life) 3. Conceited 4. Arrogant 5. Picked his teeth 6. Obvious womanizer 7. Called right after he dropped me off, called in the middle of the night because he was bored, and then again in the morning when he thought I was awake 8. Acted as if I wasn't there (while on a double date) 9. Talked entirely too much about himself (couldn't get a word in) 10. Judgemental 11. Thought he knew it all 12. Confused (said he wasn't in love with his ex, but all he could talk about was her) okay your turn. [Edited 11/28/06 11:39am] I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

1. Behaving like "we're gonna be just friends" already from the first minute (nice, but why did you come here in the first place).
2. Not letting me pay or being too eager to let me pay. 3. Mentioning their alcohol usage too often (twice is already too much) 4. Speaking about men like they were their property (speaking about ex's is fine to some degree) 5. Trying to impress me by speaking about Björk or Radiohead. 6. Wearing flats (at least please suffer for me)

Ex-Moderator | I had a date once with a guy that was quite rude to our waiter. I can't stand rude people. It was so over after that. |

I once had a date with a guy who couldn't keep his hands off me in a movie, to a point I almost walked out on him, but I had driven, and being the polite girl I am I would have felt bad making him walk home. Now, I know guys are gonna make a move, and I don't fault anyone for that. But once I tell you to stop, you better freaking stop. And quit trying!! I'm watching a movie for heaven's sake! |

9. Talked entirely too much about himself (couldn't get a word in)
this is the dealbreaker for me, right here. if you tend to go on half-hour talking jags and only give me enough time to say "yeah" before launching into part two of your epic monologue, chances are great there will be no second date. OH and when i'm on a date with someone who keeps answering their cell phone and talking to people in the middle of dinner, that's a deathknell too. the only exception is if they answer their cell and say something like "i'm in the middle of a date...yeah, he's cute...no, he's awesome..." and spends the whole call bragging about me. that i'll accept.

O-yah, and that's actually incredibly common with women. As much as I despise one certain individual I was greatly infatuated with a few years back - and who successively treated me like dirt - I have to say she was great at least in the sense of switching off her phone each time we met. In retrospect, you know she couldn't have been all that bad and the devil's incarnate.

I read a paper by some psychiatrist who said this is a very bad sign.

I just went out on a first date and she made three comments about Chinese ladies being mean employers. I was like, "Check please!" a psychotic is someone who just figured out what's going on

I read a paper by some psychiatrist who said this is a very bad sign. ooh, VERY bad sign. this pisses me off when friends or family does it, but at least it's easier to lecture them. everyone in the USA should have to be a waiter for at least six months.

I went out with a guy that would not make a single decision for himself. He wanted me to decide everything. He just wanted to do anything I wanted to do.
Huge, huge turnoff. | |

This guy asked me out for a drink, right? I got there before he did and I get really nervous around people I don't know well/on dates, so I ordered a drink for myself. Once he got there he ordered a ginger ale and didn't offer to get me a drink..ever. I spent the entire night buying my own drinks, while he nursed the same sad ginger ale.
I'm an equal opportunity kinda gal--I don't expect the guy to pay for everything all the time. But I do expect the person who asked me out to be prepared to pay, even though I will always offer and be prepared to pay my own way. When going for drinks I abide by the you buy a round, I'll buy a round philosophy.
