Do You Like It When Someone Gives You Unsolicited/Unwanted Advice? I don't, it friggin drives me nuts and gets on my last nerve. My family is very good at giving me advice that I don't need/don't want. It's gotten to the point where I've learned to say, "Hey, I'm a grown woman, not a little girl, and I can handle my business just fine without your help." If I want someone's advice, I will ask for it, I don't need someone sticking their nose into my business and telling me what I should or should not be doing. Grrrr!!!!! What's your opinion on this?
typo edit [Edited 11/27/06 19:35pm] RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Some advice on your spelling. Don't say I do and bitch about how you don't! Carpenters bend wood, fletchers bend arrows, wise men fashion themselves.

You can listen and take from it what you find helpful. Or simply let people have their 2 cents and let it go out the other ear. What you decide to do is your call. Some advice on your spelling. Don't say I do and bitch about how you don't! Huh? Are you talking about the spelling in my thread, or others correcting your spelling? I'm confused. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I never mind people giving me advice.
I'll always listen but it doesn't mean I will take it.

True, that is excellent advice. But a lot of times, what people try to tell me is NOT helpful, that's the problem. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

oh I just love it when, after having 3 babies who have all thrived, the one day I give my kid cold milk in his bottle (he's 2, so what does it matter ) and my mother in-law gives me the advice that if I warmed it up it would be better for him and that is just one example of advice she gives me EVERY time we speak. God bless her!

What's wrong with cold milk? My 16 month old has been drinking cold milk since he was about a year old.

What's wrong with cold milk? My 16 month old has been drinking cold milk since he was about a year old. I know right! I've been giving them all cold milk since about then too, but if she comes over I warm it up if I am not in the mood for going into that.

My mom laid it on thick when I was leaving her house the other day. I told her she thinks she knows everything...her response "I do" "Nobody makes me bleed my own blood...NOBODY!"

To all those on this thread who hate unsolicited advice, my advice would be to ignore it.

typo edit [Edited 11/27/06 19:35pm] you know what you should do? stuff your forefingers in both ears, one on each side and chant loudly 'LA LA LA LA LA I'M NOT LISTENING LA LA LA' the next time someone offers you free advice.

no. It insults my self-perceived feelings of superiority, and I end up wanting to kill them.
