Overrated in my opinion. But then again, I'm very critical when it comes to books.

You're making good time; can't wait to hear what you thought of that one in the year 2500...

My gal & I hit the bookstore this weekend, so I bought -
Umberto Eco - The Mysterious Flame of Queen Loana
Tom Robbins - Village Incognito
& she bought the new Haruki Murakami collection of short stories. We saw the new Thomas Pynchon, which is going on the Christms list.

Unfortunately, I've really slowed down my reading. I seem to be experiencing a lack of focus, and I jumped right into that Eco with about 5 half-finished books on my desk.

bc
"I got the devil in me, girl." - 'John the Baptist', Afghan Whigs
"Love has no other desire but to fulfill itself."

I don't understand why no one on this thread, who loves to read books no less, hasn't picked this one up yet! I guarantee you will keep this one for your collection. This author is new and has an amazing talent. Don't you want to get out of the formulaic rut? Not only is this a page-turner, BUT IT'S ALSO ABOUT PRINCE. You people love Prince. So why don't you pick up this novel that's written after him???? I just don't understand!!! The cover alone is worth the price!! confused Has anyone else read this yet? Please let me know how you liked it.
You can purchase it from www.juputer2books.com. They have excellent customer service.

Well, it's just a mock-up. It is on my list of projects, but I'm currently up to my pupick ghostwriting the next Paris Hilton book (actually, it's a co-ghostwrite w/Tinkerbell shhh).

These are books are on my shortlist to read

4) David Sedares - Naked (I read the first 5 pages and it bored me senseless. I will try and reread it again)

I listened to him read this and I liked it a lot. His stuff benefits from his actual voice, since the material is so personal.

I've read other stuff by him and it was different--not as singular in style--when you don't hear the voice.

you really need to try it again. it is an excelent read. you might want to read 'holidays on ice' by sedares because it is incredibly short and you will get a taste of who is really is as a writer. if you like 'hoi' then you will definatly like 'naked'

Reincarnate

I have tried, numerous times, to get into "Life Of Pi" because so many people loved that book but I just haven't got there yet. I suppose I get about a fifth of the way in and then get bored. Maybe one day I'll finish it neutral

pages 50-100 were very tedious to me, but once I got past that I couldn't put it down.

I just finished Living History- by Hillary

The one I really want is The year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion. It's about the year her husband died when her daughter was in a coma. I also want to read Darkness Visible by Styron, he just died last month I think.

Still haven't read The Four Agreements boxed

I need to catch up with Amy Tan and Sue Monk Kidd
The Hundred Secret Senses and Saving Fish from Drowning

The mermaid chair by sue monk kidd, I already read and loved the secret lives of bees.

I have the new Anne Rice Book it is Christ the Lord out of Egypt, it was an interesting take on the life of the young Jesus.
