R.I.P. Willie Pep

Only one man, Sammy Angott, defeated the incredible Pep in his first 137 professional fights. That "guy on the left" is Sandy Saddler, Willie Pep's nemesis, who took 3 out of 4 matches with "The Will 'O The Wisp". Their second bout, in which Pep regained the featherweight title, is one of the most magnificent displays of boxing in the sport's history. Watching Willie Pep box is akin to watching a master musician or anyone at the top of his craft. Besides Sugar Ray Robinson (whom Pep fought in the amateurs), he's the closest thing I've seen to a pure ring genius. May he rest in peace.
