Ok, so its the time of year where people tend to have special drinks, hot and cold, that they enjoy....some like rum and eggnog...baileys and hot chocolate...etc. What are some of your favorite holiday drinks...post recipes too smile

Canada Dry makes a Cranberry Ginger Ale that tastes really good with rum or vodka or bourbon.

I mull wine too! smile

I usually just throw some star anise and all spice and cinnamon sticks (all whole) and maybe a peppercorn or two into a couple bottles of a decent red on the stove, heat slowly (so as not to burn the alcohol off) and add a cup of sugar when its warm.

drool

It is sooooo yummy!! I'm making some next weekend. yay!

some are not hard at all wink

1 orange, sliced and seeded
1/2 cup sugar
2 cups water
1 teaspoon ground cloves
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 bottle red wine

combine the orange, sugar, water, and spices in a large stainless steel or enameled pot.
Slowly bring to a boil, reduce the heat, and simmer for 15 minutes.
Reduce the heat, add the wine, and slowly reheat but do not boil.
Serve warm in mugs.
Serves 8.

Oprah showed a variation on a cosmo, using pomegranate in place of the cranberry juice. I've never had pomegranate juice before, but alot of pepople seem to like it.

You can also make a variation on a cosmo, make it more of a cocktail, by using that cranberry ginger ale instead of the cranberry juice. Just add the pop last, don't shake it in the mixer with the rest of the stuff.

Mint juleps are good too. Not really an xmas drink, but the mint and the green are kind of christmassy. I can never get it to taste good using real crushed mint leaves, so I just do a splash of spearmint schnapps instead. I think the recipe is just crush up some mint leaves, add simple syrup, and bourbon, shake it up and pour it on ice. I do bourbon, spash of spearmint shcnapps, and top it with soda water for a little fizz.

X-Rated Fusion is also great on ice topped with just soda water, and toss a few cherries in for garnish.

Sweet or Perfect Manhattans are classy too.

Cocaine Lady's are good if you want something creamy...

1 part Stoli® Vanil vodka
1 part Kahlua® coffee liqueur
1 part Bailey's® Irish cream
1 splash Rumple Minze® peppermint liqueur
1 part milk

I've had this with the white chocolate liqueur, but I think it was made without the half&half, but...drool...it was nice. smile

Reincarnate

I like creamy cocktails in winter like Brandy Alexanders and After Eights:

Brandy Alexander
1.5 shots brandy
1 shot creme de cacao
1.5 shots cream

Shake with ice, strain and dust with freshly-grated nutmeg.

After Eight
I've found so many recipes for these online but none are how I make them. I make them with the following ingredients and just adjust them until I get it right:

Whisky (approx 1 part)
Chocolate mint liquer (approx 2 parts)
Cream to taste

I mix all the ingredients up, add ice and strain.

woot! Have fun. I have to admit to making them by the jug-full. It's the only time I can drink whisky as I don't usually like it. I hope you enjoy them!
