Animals in the womb Don't know if these have been posted yet, but some astounding images of various animals still in foetal stages have been captured (http://news.bbc.co.uk). I gather the final results are a mixture of original images and computer animation.
They're going to be used in a documentary in the UK later this year. Elephant

those are beautiful....
it's great to see such pictures, i mean how many think about what animals look like in the womb? we're only ever used to seeing human babies in such pictures... it's strangely beautiful to see these images. [Edited 11/23/06 10:06am] | |

At 11 weeks it's hard to tell that lil guy's going to be an elephant. Could eb human for all we'd know if the pic wasn't labelled!
I just noticed the dolphin has back limbs. I know they're vestigial and that all mammals start out roughly the same, but it's still an odd thing to see. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!" | |

Maybe there were others, but they were photoshopped out? Maybe they picked a dog that was pregnant with as few pups as possible? Most retrievers have a fair sized litter, so if a dog was picked who was only expecting maybe 2 or 3 babies, I don't think it would be that hard to get a picture of only one.
