where I can get a cheap MICROSOFT OFFICE software. I really need to bone up on EXCEL and POWERPOINT. I never learned them for my job and now that I'm going to be unemployed and looking for work I at least need to know those 2 programs.

Does anyone know if the 2003 version is super different than the most current one?

If you are currently in college or know someone who is, many universities will sell student copies of Windows XP and Office 2003 for like 10-15 bucks. The only trick is, each student is only allowed one copy.

The new version of Office hasn't come out yet for consumers. I believe it's already been released for businesses though. I would hold off on that one for now though because there have been a lot of complaints about it.

Many places I've worked at are usually a few years behind on Office anyhow and are slow to update to the latest version.

If you want to learn Word and Excel real quick, there may be seminars in your area. I went to one on Excel by Fred Pryor Seminars a couple of years ago, and it really helped out. In like 3 days we covered a ton of stuff.

I got it at the student discount from the community college over here for a whopping $7.00.

No, I can't get anymore copies because I'm not taking any classes anymore, but if you know someone who is taking college courses then have them check it out at their school.
