Earth Summit begins without Bush...

Out of the top sixty major economic powers USA is only country whose head of state isn't attending the Johannesburg summit, thus rendering the whole fortnight relatively futile. US Economy was $10 trillion in 2000.

Kyoto all over again?

Is it possible for home interests to be balanced with global ethics?

Your thoughts...

Just to clarify: this summit in South Africa is lasting two weeks and is to discuss population growth (Much to the USA's chagrin), climate change, energy, healthcare and water supply, poverty and inequality, forests, food and agriculture...

The Kyoto Agreement was a document drawn up to make positive climate changes. On Bush's refusal to sign the whole thing collapsed.

Most of your environmental issues are based on political power, not science. Your P.C. crowd, the media, Gore, and the gullible in general don't want to hear it because it leaves you with nothing to do, but the environment is not in any danger.

Not to mention some inuits are having to rebury their dead, since the so-called "permafrost" is defrosting.

uh huh. he's so worried about Iraq that he's on a month-long vacation.

and he took the same 'working' vacation in August last year. guess what happened? it was when he was briefed on the suspected terrorism attempts. what'd they do? nothing.

i guess he had a round of golf to play that afternoon.

They show him playing golf so frequently that I'm beginning to associate him more with golf than the presidency.

Maybe you SHOULD hug a tree once in a while. Great energy source. Besides, it gives you oxygen. I know your peoples prefer to hug your bombs...

Don't worry, Teller tells us above the environment is in no danger, so everything's fine. eek

The summit is about world poverty, clean water supplies for all etc too not just trees and greenhouse effect BTW...

More of the "blame America first crowd" I see.

I guess it's considered intellectual to question everything to the nth degree on the "mean" U.S., the greatest country in the world, much to the disinformation by these so-called environmentalists, who crusade is actually a cover for their big government socialist/communist agenda to extort money from the U.S.

Glacier's melting? Try melting and refreezing. Greenpeace was just caught with a falsified photo exhibiting how a glacier melted with today's warming...one problem, it was taken in the 1920's.

Greenhouse effect? Global Warming? Any legitimate scientist will tell you there is NO PROOF of this and if it does exist, it's so minor it wouldn't effect us. The earth is warming and cooling. Like the ozone doom and gloom scenerio (which we never here about since it's been debunked..we can't destroy the sun).

Deforestation? We have more trees now then when the country was founded. OUTRAGEOUS! Quite true. Today we can control forest fires, in addition, the whole logging operation is just like corn -- you chop em down and plant more, obviously to stay in business.

Third World Nations are in fact BIGGER polluters than the U.S.

We can feed the world over but tyrants in African regimes are starving their own people.

The Earth Summit folks are hypocritically chowing down on Foie de Gros, oysters, caviar, etc in Johannesburg while blocks away Africans are in absolute squalor.

I invite all to visit www.Newsmax.com for some conservative truth...

Wow, I didn't know people really bought this propaganda until I read Teller and now BonoJr.

The trees you speak of being so numerous aren't all fullsized and can be little more than newly planted saplings. Trees of decades/hundreds of years in maturity are the ones chopped down for usage.

America is biggest pollutor in the world and only reason Bush isn't attending is pressure on him from US industry, oil lobbyists etc.

Your taking a daily roasting at the Earth summit discussions...

thank you, aaron.

Do you have to be a scientist to know that a giant fukcing hole in the shield that protects us from the sun's rays - one that is FACTUALLY getting bigger all the time - is a BAD thing?

No, we can't destroy the sun, but I have a lot of confidence that we can destroy the earth. Follow the money and find out who's paying whom to "debunk" any theory that might not be in someone's best economic interest - and turn Rush off. Use your head. By the time it's "proven", what will we do about it?

Have you been to the New Jersey coast recently? i suppose dead dolphins covered in lesions have been happening since the dawn the dawn of time - or the Chatahoochie river in Georgia where nobody swims anymore because the state can not safely allow it due to the bacteria levels? I'm sure nuclear waste buried in our soil can do no harm, can it? And, hell, iceburgs just break into pieces all the time.

If a dolphin can't swim in it, I aint swimming in it. But what the hell? i wouldn't want to get in the way of progress. How else can we charge $1.29 for 12 oz. of water?

'The most abundant natural resource in America, and they've figure out a way to charge us more for that than a gallon of gas" - Dennis Miller.

Fuck the environment. Everything's fine. Now go hop in your SUV and watch some TV

Yeah, "Blaming America" is used any time a voice questions US policy. It's about the consistently disagreeable issues rather than personal vendettas/witch hunts...
