Okay sweetie here ya go...

Nice plate of ham w/ gravy, dry cornbread, big bowl of chitterlings w/ tobasco and turnip greens.

giggle

J/K....cornbread won't be dry at my house...it will be the stuffing and hubby doesn't share his chitterlings. giggle

I gotta find some collard greens though. They don't carry them everywhere in UT.

Except that you'd be ill at the smell of the chitterlings you'd love Thanksgiving at my house.

I LOVE Thanksgiving food! My feelings on the "holiday" aside, I don't understand why people always say they feel sorry for me on Thanksgiving since I don't eat meat. Who needs turkey? My kids' great-grandmother makes greens, baked mac and cheese, candied yams, extra stuffing cooked outside of the bird, cornbread... drool

no collard greens in utah? really? confuse and i'm used to the smell of chittlins being cleaned...when i went to my grandma's house for thanksgiving, the big ol' plastic bucket of chittlins in the sink was my cue to head upstairs so i wouldn't have to smell 'em as she cleaned them. the smell lingers for days! ill

I'm actually thinking of starting a Thanksgiving dinner at my house for all my friends who don't have family around (or choose not to be with them for various reasons). Maybe next year.

awwww...sad hug

reminds me of mom, my grandma on my mom's side (everyone in the family called her "mom" or "nanny", because she was like a mother to all of us)--up till around the time she passed away, she totally got down in the kitchen every thanksgiving to feed us all...and bitched at folks who wanted to come over and eat but not help her clean up afterwards. giggle

nod

That was Nana Singleton. She was my daughters' father's grandmother (got that? lol ) but she was just "Ma" to mostly everyone.

lol true. i'd probably be a lot like my mom was when it comes to cooking: she never let anybody stay around in the kitchen with her while she was preparing food. "get outta my way, get outta the kitchen! go go go!"

Oh they have collard greens here or we'd have to import them in lol It's just that not every store carries them so I'll be driving around to find them.

And for those of you thinking about doing an "orphans" Thanksgiving, DO IT!! We use to have them every year when in the military, because not everyone could get back home or had family that lived near-by. They were a bit of work but worth every minute of it. The time spent with those friends is something I cherish.

It's fucking gross. It looks like a sausage, but blood is it's chief ingredient. They actually call it blood pudding sometimes in Ireland. disbelief
