I've actually never read any Clarke. If you've never read card, start with books like: Childhood's end 2001 Rendevouz with Rama Don't read the thick books. Card seems to work best for me when the books are short and concise. I also don't care for books in which he collaborates. wait now, Card or Clarke? My Legacy

Finished reading Blood Stain- an account of a true story based on interviews with forensics and police involved in a gruesome murder which took place in NSW back in March 2000- i was glad to get that one out of the way- it was like breathing in poison- it had suspense and intrigue but was incredibly disturbing and enough to make me feel really awful with every chapter i read.
Now reading something much more light hearted- Devil Wears Prada! When I finish this one i'm wanting to read either the other book based on that Aztec princess...i alread have a novel on that but i don't like the way it's been written- hardly capturing, not enough mood and feeling in it- lost interest years ago in it so i think i'll get this one i think it's by Laura Esquivel or Isabel Allende i forgot but it looked good either way also im intruiged by a book i spotted on Yiddish history- all old world maps etc- another read im interested in...but i aint gonna get anything till i finish Devil Wears Prada!! No hablo espanol,no!
Pero hablo ingles..ssii muy muy bien... "Come into my world..." Missy Quote of da Month: "yeah, sure, that's cool...wait WHAT?! "

I'm still hooked on Charming, Alarming, Disarming--by Ann Lee. This is her debut suspense novel. Her reviews are going to put her on the bestselling list soon. And if you're a prince fan, which all of you are if you're here, that's the added bonus! I bought it from the publisher's website:
www.juputer2books.com. They have excellent customer service. If you're in the mood for page-turning, twist, turns, surprises, and a S.E.X.Y. Prince influence throughout, get it. you'll never look at Prince the same way again. If anyone else has read this, let me know. There's something I just got to ask you, to see if you were as surprised as I was!!!

Not a lofty or ambitious read, but very good all the same.

I am all over the map...
I have recently been given a copy of Tanakh of holy scriptures from a Jewish friend I hold in high esteme.... on top of it sits 2 versions of the Holy Bible followed by a copy of ITALY ( a travel guide) over that is a blank book for notes from REDFEATHERS titled: Give me coffee and Nobody gets hurt. To the table behind my bed I have a stack... from bottom to top: Ireland Hisory of a Nation ( I picked up In Ireland with Jon) The Sacred Romance Taste and See by Piper ( Sent to me by David) The Apocrypha ( Loaned to me by Madatista) Piercing The darkness by Peretti Covered by an open copy of Tuesdays with Morrie (sent to me by Tackum or Melissa) To the side of the stack I have a near completed copy of The Highlanders touch By Karen Monning TD Jakes Maximize the Moment and the writings of Florence Scovel Shinn ( Either from my sister or Maddy!) And here in somewhere betwix is my mindset! ... hear to here edit [Edited 11/22/06 1:23am]

I am currently re-reading Stephne R. Donaldson's GAP series. Just finished book one The Real Story, almost ready to plunge head-on into part two.
The Real Story is a short but intense tale set in a future in which humans travel between the stars using "gap drives," controllable brain implants are punishable by death, and a private company called the United Mining Company runs law enforcement for all of known space. Ensign Morn Hyland lives aboard a police ship with most of her family, chasing down pirates and other illegals who prey on the weak or smuggle goods into forbidden space. Through a strange turn of events, one particularly nasty perpetrator ends up with Morn as his companion--or at least that's the way it appears to the folks at the space station's bar. Why would a young, strong, beautiful police officer associate with a crusty, murdering pirate? People watch with interest as Morn appears to fall in lust with another racy illegal, Captain Nick Succorso. Morn and Nick must have plotted together to frame Angus and escape together, right? But the real story was quite different.
