The Room I am sitting in Now [Edited 11/21/06 18:24pm] Carpenters bend wood, fletchers bend arrows, wise men fashion themselves.

Okee doke, here's a detailed tour of Chez Anx:
My bathroom is stark and white. I don't want any decoration in there. Just clean white utilitarian things. And it must smell minty in there at all times. ALL TIMES. I contain any unsettling OCD tendencies I may have to this area. Oh, hey - it's my living room! Complete with sleeping kitty, leaning tour of books, and a damn space heater because the radiator heat I get in this place SUCKS! The painting above the couch is by my NYC ex-roommate. She painted it when we were living together. It's tempera paint on a piece of cardboard refrigerator box, with cut-outs from paper bags stuck on it. She had it framed for over three hundred dollars before she gave it to me. I love that. This is a weird little shrine area, which i hope is going to transform into a bigger photo shrine full of friends, family and household goddesses. So far I just have a framed portrait of Edith Massey (photographed by Bob Adams, who played Ernie in 'Female Trouble') and a pic of me and some kitties from the first night of my first MPLS Org Invasion. Keeping with my minty smell fixation, I also have a box of pine scented incense at the ready. I need to get rid of that Glade thingie, it smells like hot fruit. This is my home alarm system - a picture of Little Edie Beale looking especially STAUNCH, which I have hanging right next to the front door. I've had her up ever since I've lived by myself in Chicago, and so far, touch wood, no unseemly characters or unforseen catastrophes! And as home security systems go, she doesn't cost a dime and she keeps on working even in a power shortage. She never weakens, no matter what. My kitchen's pretty threadbare, but I'd be remiss if I didn't share this bit of fammy-famdom with you all. Yes, the org is in my kitchen. Whenever I'm scooping Iams into Grady's kitty food bowl, I think of you guys. And, well...being that I live in a studio apartment, that's about it! | |
