Tune in to the 80th annual America's Thanksgiving Day Parade from lovely Detroit Michigan!

The parade will be aired on NBC affiliates at 9:20 a.m. Thanksgiving morning...Happy Turkey Day from Detroit!

This year marks the 80th birthday of America's Thanksgiving ParadeĀ®. To celebrate this milestone, this year's Parade will have crowd favorites and new surprises with more than 75 units including floats, balloons, award-winning marching bands, clowns, specialty acts, celebrities, and The Parade Company's own Distinguished Clown Corps.

Experience the fun and excitement of this cherished holiday tradition on the new Parade route, modeled after the original route in 1924. The new route highlights some of the City's architectural treasures, such as the Fox Theatre, and some of downtown's latest developments including Merchants Row, Compuware World Headquarters and Campus Martius Park. Mayor Kilpatrick will present the Key to the City to Santa Claus at Santa's Castle, located on Woodward Avenue right across the street from the original Hudson's Department Store, the originators of our Parade. The Parade steps-off in Midtown at Woodward and Mack Avenues on Thursday, November 23 at 9:20 a.m. and ends in downtown Detroit at Woodward Avenue and Congress Street.

The 10k Turkey Trot also has a new route this year, starting and finishing at COBO Center. Participants will enjoy a scenic run of the City including the cultural center and the Parade route. New for 2006 is the 5k Stuffing Strut. Both races begin at 8:00 a.m.

The best way to watch the Parade is from Official Grandstand Seats. Seats are located at step-off, Foxtown, Grand Circus Park, and Merchants Row (TV-Zone) area. New this year are VIP Grandstand seats, providing access to the VIP Parade Breakfast in the Marketplace, located on the second floor of Compuware Headquarters. Group discounts are available.

To further celebrate the Parade's 80th birthday, 80,000 gifts filled with lots of goodies and the chance to win fabulous prizes will be given away along the Parade route. Maybe yours will include a Golden Ticket with an extra special prize inside.

Ready to experience Parade magic today? Click on the links to the left to learn more or to get involved. See you November 23 for A Parade to Remember!

I will have it on as background noise on Thanksgiving morning whilst I cooks
the turkey 'n such...never been downtown to check it out in person. We're always busy trying to get everything ready by NOON (that's right, NOON!) in order to sit down with a plate full of food and watch the DETROIT LIONS game, followed by my FAVORITE team next, the DALLAS COWBOYS! WOOOOOHOOOOO.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

lol Hey, it's still FOOTBALL!...but, point taken, it was much more fun to watch these games when they were winning more often.
