Well I thought this thread would get out of control but actually you guys have done a decent job of keeping it on topic without insulting each other too much. Nice one But I've been requested by an Orger to step in and have a look at the thead so here I am...

Essence - just a quick suggestion - I'd play it safe and not reproduce racist comments and opinions on the Org (even though you didn't say them originally and you are arguing against them). I don't think Funkbible has made that "spearchucker" comment in the new General Discussion, so it's a clean slate as far as I'm concerned.

Funkbible - just a quick suggestion - discuss the person's points rather than the person. No need to call him or her a "genius" sarcastically or label him a "bleeding heart". Criticize his politics and his opinions if you wish, but let's avoid confrontational posts.

It is actually possible to discuss this kind of stuff without resorting to hurling insults at each other I promise!

The guy is a greedy opportunist who plays off of race & race issues. He's certainly not ever going to become President. What are his policies regarding issues independent of race? Does he have any? For the record, I wouldn't vote for Colin Powell if, in fact, he did want to be president.

I was severely disappointed by his narrow-minded, conservative comments against gays serving in the military, and his early failure to properly recognize President Clinton as the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces.

In a US media poll conducted around the time of the Bush-Gore election, among likely voters, the most mistrusted "minority" was not blacks, women, or even gays. The minority candidate with the lowest probability of being elected, by far, was the "atheist." Damn, I wish I could provide the link for that poll.
